James stared at the screen and pushed away from his desk in a second. Eliza was going to go tell Emma everything and he couldn't have that. It made him angry but for once he kept his angry in check, or at least as much as he was capable of doing. Moving out the door, James ran down to the West Wing, he wasn't going to let his happen. Nothing was going to hurt Emma, not even Eliza.
Getting to the familiar hallway he went straight to number two. They were so close, right across from each other and if Emma had been in her room, he probably would have been too late but she was in the kitchen and that was where Eliza had planned to go. The blonde may have been oblivious to what was going on but James was the one who intended to keep it that way.
He could not fuck this up. If he did, everything would be ruined and he would have to start all over again and he wouldn't have Emma. She was the one he could pretend to be normal with. The one that would trust that facade so easily, he needed to keep her around for sanity's sake or at least to feel grounded somehow and he wasn't going to let Eliza take that away from him.
Bursting through the door, James didn't bother to knock, instead he shut the door behind him and stood in front of it, not letting her out. "You can't do this," he told her, in a serious tone, face not showing much in the way of emotion but his tone showed that he was starting to struggle with keeping the impulsive, aggressive side under control.

Eliza had just signed out of the chat room. She was planning on making the trek to the kitchen and tell Emma about James. Hell, he had stabbed her. Emma deserved to know, at least in Eliza’s opinion. As she moved away from her desk she went to go grab her coat. Many people would state that she was getting into someone else’s business that she didn’t belong in, or that she was jealous but she was more pissed than anything. When she went to turn around she heard her door burst open. She saw James, the one who had stabbed her. He had claimed in the chat that it was a mistake to stab her, that he should have thought about it sooner. He was the one that told her that he wouldn’t harm her too much. As soon as he talked she rolled her eyes. He wasn’t in control anymore. She was. At least in this situation. ”Tell me one good reason. Not one that affects you, but deals with me. Why should I let this little girl be in potential danger?”She smirked. She couldn’t think of a single reason why. Of course his reason so far was ‘why do you want to hurt her?’ mostly she was trying to save her. She had made the mistake of believing his fake promises, and she wasn’t going to let her end the same way she had. She was lucky that Tristan found her rather than someone that she didn’t know. She had already told him about the aspect of her not bleeding out, since she was rather bad off after wards. But hell, what if someone she didn’t know found her. He hadn’t thought things out at all. ”How do I know you’re not going to leave her in some closet to bleed to death? Without thinking of who could possibly find her” she said. She moved so that she had put her coat on now. She was determined to go, regardless of what he said. ”I told you that you were lucky that Tristan found me, but more for reasons than me bleeding out. What if some teacher found me? They would have made me report it. Great idea then right? Think of where you would be now.” she said smiling. ”Now just leave” she said as she moved more towards the door. She didn’t need to worry about Sasha being here. She had something better to do of course. What, she wasn’t sure. She didn’t fully get along with Sasha, but they were getting along better than before. Of course many things changed over that time period, and being stuck sharing a room was one of those things that caused it. Otherwise Eliza probably wouldn’t deal with her. "The only danger she's in is from you Eliza," he told her, not really addressing the question. James knew he had to get this right or she would ruin everything. James didn't care either way about most things but Emma was just a little bit different, she was so sweet and innocent and he wanted to keep her that way, the problem was, he had to protect her from himself too. James took a deep breath before speaking, he needed to convince her.
"You're not like me Eliza, I can't really care but you can and you should and if you do, then you wouldn't do this. This would hurt her. She trusts me, if you ruin that than what'll she have left?" he asked, hoping the girl, unlike him, was capable of some level of empathy.
"If you think you're trying to save her from me, from what I might potentially do then you're wrong," he told her. "She's safer with me," he told her but he knew she wouldn't believe it, she hadn't before on the chat so why would she believe it now? Because he had an emotion or two displayed on his face? Maybe, but James knew it wasn't likely.
"I wouldn't do that to her," James said but saying it wasn't enough he needed to explain and he couldn't, because he couldn't say the words. James gritted his teeth, getting more frustrated with the situation by the minute. Aggression was something he hadn't yet learned to control.
"I know. I know where I'd be and I know that what I did wasn't right but I'm trying to fix it and you're not exactly helping," he told her, he was angry but only because she wouldn't let this go.
"No!" James said, as she moved to the door, he grabbed her by her arms and pushed her up against it. This was probably not a good idea but he needed to stop her. He wouldn't let her get to Emma, he couldn't. He wouldn't hurt her either because of his current plan of action.
"You can't do this," James said, but why? He had been saying that but he hadn't given her any indication as to why he didn't want her to do this. Because it would hurt Emma? No, Eliza would probably see right through that. The guy couldn't feel emotions, she would know in a second that something wasn't right, despite it being true, it was not his motivating factor.
"I would never hurt her," he told her, holding her to the door but not gripping too tightly. His intentions weren't to hurt her, it was simple to stop her. "I.." he said, pausing for a moment and looking away as though it were difficult to say the works, James could only hope that this would work because although he liked to pretend this was all a ruse to talk Eliza out of this, it was actually true. "I need her," he told her, sounding as honest as he could possibly manage before loosening his grip on her. "You can't do this because I need her," he told her, "She makes me feel like a normal person, and that's all I wanna be," he told her, almost pleading with her girl to show some mercy, some empathy. The fact that this was true was only a glimmer of hope that it might work. While the emotions were faked, the words were true. Anyone else who wasn't a sociopath would be capable of it but James had to factor in the anger that she probably felt toward him. That would lessen his chances but it was still a possibility that this might work. He hadn't hurt her today so this route was still possible but if he failed.. Then James would have to think quick and find another way.
"I'm sorry it wasn't you," he added, letting go of her but standing by the door to stop her from getting out if she tried to. He was hoping to cover all his bases. Should she still be jealous then that might ease it just a bit. It could have been her but it wasn't, he had gone about it all wrong and this was his second chance.

Only danger was from her. That was a good one. Except for the fact that she wasn’t the one that marked her, or stabbed her. That had been him. Regardless of what he promised he was unpredictable. That was her mistake, she didn’t want to let another one make it. Let alone she was pissed that the girl had what she wanted. She shook her head and continued doing what she was before he talked. Eliza couldn’t believe the stuff that he was saying. That she was going to hurt her. Maybe in the short term, but in the long term it would be better, much better. Obviously better than dealing with being stabbed and all this other shit. ”She’s fucking safer with you, you really are crazy. She’d be safer with me than you any day” she said as she turned and looked at him. When he said that he wouldn’t do that to her she laughed. That was exactly what he had said to her. He wouldn’t hurt her that bad. She fucking went back to him even after Aleksei marked her. But he hadn’t thought. Of course not. She didn’t want to deal with his bullshit, she wanted to leave. She shook her head when he said that he was trying to fix it. That was a full blown lie. He wanted to fight Aleksei, but was keeping it away from Emma. Either way he wasn’t going to be able to keep it a secret again. As soon as she made her way to where the door was, he pinned her to the door by her arms. ”I can’t?! I fucking can’t? Watch me. I won’t let you do the same to her” she said as she pushed against his arms. She didn’t care what he said, she wanted to get things back to being her way, and not everyone else’s. That’s how things would go. The way she wanted them to. She wanted to ruin it for James, she wanted to hurt him like he hurt her. As soon as he said that he needed her she looked down. It was just as well that he said that he loved her. Even though he wasn’t capable of emotions, he was good at faking them. She knew that. He wasn’t ever going to take her back, not matter how much she tried. Although she would still try, she knew that Aleksei would also go off for some guy, and she would be left alone. In the end she wouldn’t end up with either guy that was fighting over her. That was probably the worse thing for her. Not getting what she wanted. When he let go of her she shut her eyes. He had proven that he was stronger, but she knew he was lying half the time. He wasn’t sorry that it wasn’t her. He didn’t really care. James paused for just a second. In truth, Emma probably was safer with Eliza. The girl wasn't a physical threat, not like James was but he had decided that he would protect her, even from himself and his past. He couldn't let what he had done before get to her and hurt her. It would be going against what he wanted. He may have let Eliza down but that was purely out of anger. He didn't quite trust her as much as he trusted Emma.
Eliza had been with a number of guys and that wasn't the problem, it was that he couldn't poses her and he couldn't have her if she had the freedom to just leave one day. Emma was different. She was afraid of guys he was never going to just leave and that was something James could rely on. It made her a better choice than Eliza was and so he wasn't going to let this go so easily.
"Just listen," he said quietly. He wasn't being loud or yelling, he wasn't outwardly angry but the seriousness was there. He knew what was going on here and he didn't need confirmation either. He watched people and he knew feelings and emotions and he knew she would be angry about this and there were several reasons for it. He had hurt her thus she would want her revenge, she would want to hurt him because she got hurt and so he need to work on that. She was in an emotional state and he would manipulate that, do and say what he needed to to stop her. Usually lying was his first option but in this case, slivers of truth seemed to slip through and he watched for her reaction.
She seemed to stop for a moment, closing her eyes and James moved in, leaning down a little, like he always had to thanks to his height. He placed a hand on her cheek gently, "I'm sorry that things ended badly between us. I know you were just caught in middle and I know it must be horrible to be in your position. I can't really feel sympathy for you but I can understand it, even if it's from a very objective and detached point of view," he told her. She already knew he didn't feel much so he needed to justify it all. Most in his position would have some trouble understanding it at times but James studied it more than a lot of people like him. He studied it and mimicked it and still he couldn't understand certain things but it was better nothing.

Eliza was furious with James. He stabbed her because of the fact that he hadn’t thought it out! How did that make it any better for her? It didn’t. Nothing that he had done so far benefited her, it all benefited him. She had let him carve into her. She was the one that got stabbed. Nothing benefited her, unless you count the time that they had sex, and she was minorly addicted to sex. When he said to listen she finally stopped and actually listened. He was being rather calm compared to her. She was pissed, and she couldn’t exactly control her anger. She wanted what she wanted. She wasn’t getting what she wanted and she would do something about it. When he touched her cheek with his hand she moved away. She didn’t want him touching her. Even if it was to comfort her. It wasn’t comforting knowing that he wasn’t going to pick her. It pissed her off more. ”You’re not sorry. I know that, you know that. You’re just sorry that the situation is what it is. That I’m going to tell Emma and that it will ruin you’re little plan.” she said as she moved away from him and the door. She went over to the window looking out into the campus. She didn’t like the idea of her just being thrown aside. Soon she would be nothing in both of their eyes, and it would end horribly wrong for her most likely. She knew that Aleksei wanted to fight, but she didn’t know when this whole fight was going to happen. But it didn’t matter. James just stepped back and let walk away from him. She didn't seem to want to be too close to him right but that was an entirely acceptable response. It was one that he had factored in and prepared for and every little bit of what she said and did was helping his to decide his next move.
"I would be if I could Eliza.. if I even knew how but I honestly can't figure it out," he told her, brows furrowed just slightly as he tried to think of what else he could possibly tell her. There was some sort of progress taking place here. She was calming down just a fraction and that was a good start.
It was obvious that she wanted him to be sorry for what he did to her and how he treated her and James would have gladly pretend in order to get her to stop this but he couldn't even do that. she knew that he couldn't feel much in the way of emotion and that made it more difficult. He had to work out another way of convincing her and this was why he had decided, soon after ending it with Eliza that pretending was the safer option here.
"What do I have to do?" James asked. "I can't figure it out on my own, I'm clearly not capable of it so just tell me what I have to do for you to not do this," he asked, looking at her from the door as she stood by the window. There was straight honesty in his voice. He wanted to know what it was he should do and if she said nothing, he wouldn't stop there either. He wouldn't simply let this go because Emma was that important to him. "Eliza.. I'm sorry it wasn't you but I can't change that. So please, just tell me what you want from me so that we can end this now," he asked, almost pleading with her, he was aware that there were some emotions showing through in his voice but he didn't over-do it.

Eliza was at least calmed down by the fact that he had let her leave being near him. She didn’t exactly want him to touch her, and she knew that he would want to. She knew that he wasn’t able to feel many emotions. She didn’t know what to do though. She wasn’t use to things like this. She was use to guys giving her what she wanted. She didn’t need to fight with them about it. And if she even started to, they usually picked her. Eliza didn’t know what to do. She wanted James, but mostly she didn’t want Emma with him. She heard him begin to plead and she shook her head. She didn’t want to hear this. She wanted him to just give into her. Let Emma be a thing of a past but it was the other way around. She was now a thing of the past for him, of course until Aleksei went after him. Then he would most likely fight back. ”What do you have to do?! You should know” she said as she looked down. She didn’t want to deal with this. He had even said that she was one of a kind. Not many people would let someone just cut them up for the hell of it. She closed her eyes when he said her name. ”I want you to pick me. Not some little chick that is scared of her own shadow” she said turning around facing him fast. She didn’t want to have to state it quite so bluntly, but if that’s what it took then it was worth a shot. James just stayed quiet, letting her say what she wanted to. He didn't know what he should do because he had a problem understanding and dealing with emotions. He could just have forced her into it but he knew better. After everything, Eliza would be near her breaking point. He knew better than to push her too far and have her snap. That was lead to a far worse result.
He moved closer to her, he had seen the mark on her neck but hadn't said a word about it yet. He was too busy thinking about Emma. He didn't care that Alexsei had her because she was now a part of the past and thus less relevant to him now but he couldn't let her know that. That would only push her to want to hurt him more and that meant getting to Emma.
"Why would you even want me? After everything I've done to you," he told her, pointing out how little sense it made for her to still want him to be with her. "Besides, you have him," he told her, brushing his fingers over the mark on her neck. He knew though that it wouldn't last. A sociopath's attention was always fleeting. It never lasted, at least not unless they had a reason to.
James had been there once, he had been through that phase but with Emma, he could play pretend and with her he could have a normal life and that was what he wanted. Anything else he decided to do on the side was his business but he would keep her around for as long as possible, even make her happy... He couldn't give that to Eliza though and he knew that she hated that.
"Here's a good piece of advise Eliza. Stay away from me, from him, from anyone like us. Get better, get out and find someone who deserves you. You're better than this," he told her, wondering if she would believe it. She had been caught in the middle and was simply a toy to keep them occupied but she could be so much more. She could get out of here and find someone at least half-way normal. "You shouldn't want to be with someone who can't love you, who can't even feel sorry for hurting you. You know a lot about how we work, you should understand that," he explained to her.

Eliza heard him move, but to where she wasn’t sure. She just knew that he wasn’t near the door anymore. She heard him talk, and knew that he was close. Although he had a point, she didn’t want to give him up. She wanted him because of many reasons. As soon as she felt his hand brush against the perfect rose on the back of her neck she shivered. ”I want someone. But not him. He likes his roommate, has his sister here, I’m already basically a thing of the past. I need someone there.” she said still looking out the window. It was true, she always had someone there for her. Coming to this school she had him, then it turned towards Aleksei after he stabbed her and all, but she always had someone. Not being near a guy, or a girl for that matter and being needed, wasn’t something she wanted to deal with. When she turned and looked at him she sighed. She didn’t want to look at him. It hurt to know that he wouldn’t pick her regardless. But she could ruin Emma picking him. ”That’s a lot of assuming. You think there’s someone out there for me? I think I would have met them by now. I highly doubt that someone can even stand me, for me. I haven’t had to hide around you. Fake being who I really am. Meanwhile at all my parties, I have to hide behind alcohol, and cigarettes, and other drugs.” she said as she looked down. James just kept that same look on his face, as though he cared but what she saying didn't surprise him at all. He knew something like that would happen. She just hadn't been the sort of person he would want to keep around long term and from what he knew of Aleksei, he had no doubt it would have been the same for him. The girl was a toy to play with, something for a bit of fun but she just wasn't the sort of person he'd keep around for a long time.
"There'll be someone for you. I just doubt you'll find them in here," he told her. "I know it not easy and I know you probably feel like everyone's abandoning you but you've got friends a least," he told her. "You could count me as a friend if you want to," he said, it was really up to her, after what he had done, he had expected her to not want to be anywhere around him but here she was being jealous of Emma? It was different but the people in here had problems so James decided that some might be a little more unpredictable than most.
This was a good tactic though. Telling her, he was still there for her, that he'd be a good friend and maybe stick around was like laying down the ground work for her to want to be on his side and not tell Emma. It'd be easier to guilt her into doing or not doing certain things but it was still her choice. She had been around Aleksei for a while now and James couldn't possibly predict what changes might have occured during this time.

She shook her head. She was sure that there wouldn’t be someone there for her. At least when she needed them here. Of course they wouldn’t. They were all planning on something else, or had someone else. Of course she could ruin it for James, but Aleksei’s already knew about it all. Tristan had been there when Aleksei cleaned her mark. Of course he was kinda surprised but who wouldn’t be. ”Friends, seriously I have maybe one person that I can count as a friend. And I highly doubt that you’d want me as a friend, because obviously you’ll always be afraid that I’ll tell Emma. Of course I could tell her easily. It wouldn’t hurt me at all” she said smirking. She had him stuck, he didn’t really have anything on her. Of course she had his past, and she had proof. His mark was still crossed out though. Aleksei didn’t care enough to make sure that it wouldn’t scar, and of course the stab wound scarred. ”Besides, I know you don’t really care” she said softly. He couldn’t physically care. So she knew that it was useless. WORDS ;; 200ish STATUS ;; finished TAGGED ;; james OUTFIT ;; with a black jacket, along with her hair being upNOTES ;; yeah break down soon

James thought about it for a second, he let it show that he was being absolutely serious about all of this. He needed a way of getting her convinced that telling Emma everything was not something she would want to do.
"If I really don't care and I really can't feel anything... Then why am I trying to protect her?" he asked, trying to give her something to think about, as he sounded as though he truly didn't know the answer to his own question, like this was some enigma to him as well.
"I definitely don't see her as some sort of toy. If I did I would have used her by now but instead I'm just trying to keep her happy... Why would I do that.. If I'm really not capable of feeling anything," he asked her as though this might lead her to some enlightening new information.
It was true though, his actions did point to the fact that he must care in some way for Emma at least. "And if I can care about her... Why can't I care about what happens to you? Why can't I have changed?" he asked her, eyebrows furrowed as though this were some beguiling new information. If he could let her see that he might have changed, that he could now miraculously care about her then maybe he could talk her out of it. James was happy to stick around and put in the work, let her think he was a friend, there to help her if it meant she wouldn't tell Emma a word.

Eliza let herself sink down the wall until she was sitting. Everyorse, nothing. No feelings but yet he hadn’t done anything to her. She put her head into her hands. As she shook her head she couldn’t understand this. He had used her though. He hadn’t waited that long either. She had been his playtoy just a few minutes after thing that he was saying was true in a way, but why. Everything he was saying was contradicting what she had been told before. He couldn’t feel anything, no remorse, meeting him. Then later that night they had fucked, but of course that was nothing. At least to some people. So he could think of someone else that was so manipulatable but she was just a playtoy. She must not have been good enough. Of course she would still be a playtoy to Aleksei but how long would that last. He had Cameron if he really wanted to mark someone, but she didn’t know why Cameron would allow Aleksei to mark her, she was just like him. Must be something between them, of course it was. Then he also had Tristan, his roommate, was obviously something to him. They acted almost like a couple, in a strange weird way. ”Cause its not physically possible!” she said. He had told her physically possible for him to change. Both him and Aleksei had something that couldn’t be cured, so why were they there. She couldn’t answer that herself, but they were most likely there to get them away from society, until they were 18, then ship them off to somewhere else. That’s the only thing she could think of. Eliza looked entirely uncertain about this whole thing. Good. Doubt was the first step on this plan. James got down beside her when she sank to the floor. She was confused and she didn't understand any of it. Great. That was exactly what he wanted.
"i don't understand it myself," James told her, deciding that giving her that little bit of an insight might foster some sort of understanding or acceptance that would convince her to believe him.
"It's different though, I know that much," he told her, acting like a normal person would in his situation. Looking like it was strange how things had changed but not understanding it fully.
He just needed her to agree not to say a word and then he could go away and only have to come back and talk to her to pretend that there was some sort of friendship here. It was just maintenance for her, to keep her mouth shut, nothing he couldn't handle. It was just more of him manipulating her like he had before but this was essential. It was important for him to do this because emma was his Chance at avoiding being locked up. He still needed to know if he could get her to believe what he was saying and agree not to tell Emma a word of it. "Do you think we could possibly start over?" he asked, looking up at her with a hopeful look in his eyes.
