Florencia was alone in this place, she wasn't sure what the usual custom was to arriving, but she wondered if peoples parents brought them here. Well her father didn't even speak to her, not after he retrieved her from the zoo's jail. She beat up some employees after she got attacked by birds. Now she's not sure if she'll ever step foot into the bird room ever again. Too many bad memories now, tainting all the good ones.
She sighed as she just stared at the floor, but not really seeing anything. She was thinking, thinking about her father. And why he didn't come with her. Why he just stuck her on the plane and said see ya later. It hurt that he picked Ash and the bitch over her. She was his DAUGHTER. Hell her mom had told her that most likely Ash wasn't even his. So why pick them over her, why stay there with them and not take Her to this fucked up place. Have a good and proper good bye. Those were the thoughts clouding her brain when somebody cleared there throat. So she looked up wiped the tears and took the cup from the woman. It was the reason she was still sitting here, they wanted to make sure she took the pills, and she did, swallowed them whole and opened her mouth then watched the lady walk away.
She threw the cup to the ground and closed her eyes, pulling her leg up on ther chair and resting her forhead on her knees. God she hoped the meds would hurry up, she wanted to eat but the lady said she had to stay here. They had to make sure she knew where everything was before they let her go to do her own thing. She wanted out of this fucking place, that's what she wanted. But she wasn't going to get it so she might as well eat something. At least it was better then cutting herself. No life wasn't that bad. Yet anyway.
But she heard footsteps again and opened her eyes and glared up. She thought it was the lady but her glare softened when she realized it wasn't. "Uh Hi?"

Scott didn't think he had any other choice. Things went from bad to worse pretty quickly but that was life. You play the hand you were dealt and deal with it as best you could. In his case he went from having a wife and daughter to having a schizophrenic daughter and a dead wife. When Anna was about seven she was diagnosed when schizophrenia and when she was about 12 they found out that her mother had an aggressive form of lung cancer and at 13 she was now.
Now with a 14 year old daughter who couldn't go to a regular school because her medication just couldn't keep her sane enough, Scott was running out of options. Hawthorne was his only chance of keeping what was left of his family held together. They left Canada and came here because as a teacher, Scott decided being at the school his daughter was attending meant that he would be closer to her and better able to take care of her.
Hawthorne just happened to have the right facilities. There were counselors and psychiatrists and doctors who understood her condition and knew how to deal with it which meant that she wasn't going to get into trouble or get kicked out for something that wasn't even her fault to begin with. Scott loved his daughter and this was the best thing he could think to do for her.
Walking into the main offices, Scott went about the usual business of getting everything in order before he would start teaching and Anna could attend the school. Having done that, they proceeded to give him a map of the school with classroom he would be using high lighted. A tour wasn't really necessary when a small map would do the same job.
Standing by the door he watched as they took Anna away to show her to her room. It wasn't as though they were taking her away forever or locking her up but Scott still felt horrible about it. She would stay here in the dorms and he couldn't be here to keep an eye on her but at least there was the day time. She would be down in a second, maybe after she unpacked a few things so Scott decided he would wait a while.
Moving over to the chairs he sat down. A space away was a girl. He didn't really get a good look at her until she spoke. "Hello," he said, returning her greeting. She didn't looked too happy about being there and suddenly Scott couldn't help but wonder if he had made the right decision. What if this was a horrible place for Anna?
"This is a nice school, isn't it?" he asked the girl, hoping to get some kind of confirmation. He had seen a few students who looked miserably and he didn't want that to happen to Anna. "Do they take good care of you kids here?" he asked, hoping the girl might be able to shed some light, he only assumed she had been there a little while.

Flo didn't want to be bothered, but she wasn't the rude type. Even when she was angry and upset, she at least tried to be respectful. Or only if it was someone she didn't have a problem with. There were a few people she had problems with, one being her annoying asshole sister. Ash was one that when she was angry she never tried to be nice. She always was mean to Ash, even when she was in a good mood she was rude to Ash. Though those were mroe for the fun of it.
But when the guy asked her about the school she had to answer, because he didn't do anything to her. So she knew she had to answer her, and so she shrugged. "I guess." She didn't really know, she was new and didn't have opinion on anything. Yet. She hoped it wasn't going to be like a personal hell for her. Though she highly suspected that it was going to be such a thing. Having to take her meds, being watched to make sure she doesn't hurt herself, or anyone else for a matter of fact.
"I wouldn't know," she said dryly. It wasn't usually how Flo was, and she hoped that this guy wouldn't take it personally. She was just tired, and wanted to sleep off the horrible sad feeling that was taking over her body. "I'm new," she admitted softly. "Why do you want to know?"

Scott just nodded and looked straight ahead. It was a pretty standard answer among teenagers these days. He had taught enough of them to pick up on these things. If it was 'i don't know' than it was more likely to be a no and if it was 'i guess' then it was more likely to be a yes but it still lacked the certainty he was looking for. Scott knew he would have to wait and see and hope for the best. It was going to be different from what she was used to. This was going to be a big change for the both of them but there wasn't much that he could do about it.
He turned back when she spoke again. She didn't know but that was alright. He had hoped for a few good words about this place but he hadn't expected anything. The reviews seemed to say it was alright but he knew who wrote those. It was always going to be different for the students who actually attended the school. They would always have a different view of it.
"That's alright," he said. So she was new, that made a little more sense, she wouldn't know either way but it was fine. Scott was just going to have to look on the bright side and keep on hoping for the best.
"I just brought my daughter here," he told her. "I just wanted to make sure she's gonna be alright," he admitted. He could get pretty protective of his family but that was just how Scott was. He cared a lot about his daughter and wanted to make sure that she was going to be okay and he cared a lot about his wife too. He was there right up until the end when she died last year but Scott still loved her, even if she was gone. He had loved her for half his life so it wasn't ever going to be easy to get over. In fact, he still wore his wedding ring because taking it off still felt wrong.
They did make their vows though. 'Till death do us part' it said, and here it was. Death had come and gone and he was still stuck. At least he still had Anna, even with her problems and even with all the difficulties involved, he still had her and he still loved her.

Flo had settled into the chair and leaned her head back against the wall, staring up at the ceiling. She didn't know how to take this guy, or his words. She wasn't a trusting person, hell why would she be? After all the shit she had been put through lately. Her life was pretty damn suckish. And she didn't want it to get any worse, it was hopefully going to get better. Here, away from the people who make her life so darn miserable.
When the man spoke up, her eyes flitted back to him and she nodded. Yeah she was new, horribly indescribably new. How if anything like this was possible, who the hell knew. But then his next words caught her off guard and her brow furrowed slightly. "At least you care enough about her. She'll be glad you do," she said softly, yet loud enough for him to hear. She closed her eyes at that moment, fighting off the tears and the thoughts that wanted to escape.
This man cared about his daughter, and that alone was good enough for Florencia to like him. She wanted a dad like that, someone sweet and caring. The opposite of her father. So when she was sure she wasn't going to cry, she straightened up, and decided to fight this. This man here, the one so caring, didn't deserve he disrespect. So she looked at him and gave a soft smile, "I'm sorry for being so. Uh. Emotional," she said softly. "I'm just stressed. I guess..it's not usually how I am." She shrugged, though she was smiling, it didn't reach her eyes.
"I'm Florencia," she finally said after a few seconds of silence.

"That's not easy when half the time she doesn't even know what's real and what's not," he said. He really did care about his daughter but it wasn't easy when she didn't like taking her medication and would often be off talking to people who just weren't there or saying things that didn't seem to make sense to anyone but herself.
Some might think that this was a horrible thing to happen, that their lives would be that much more difficult because of it but for Scott it was a little different. This was just apart of his life and he just made the best decisions possible to deal with it.
The girl seemed sad though, she barely said it loud enough for him to hear. Glancing over, Scott had a look at her, she had her eyes closed. "I'm sure you're parents care about you too," he said, he really had no idea what her life was like but Scott felt the need to say something anyway.
"That's alright," Scott said quietly. "It's better than just bottling it up," he told her, though he should really take his own advice. He hadn't really talked to anyone since Isabelle's death. It was hard to get used to, let alone talk about and work on moving on from.
He smiled when she introduced herself. "I'm Scott.. though I should probably say Mr. Nickerson," he told her before explained. "I'm gonna be teaching here starting Monday," he told her. It was just easier to stay close and why not teach at the same school if they would let him. Anna certainly wouldn't mind. He had discussed it with her and she seemed to like the idea.
