Isaac sat through yet another class he wasn't quite interested in. It was Monday and the weekend had been more than a little eventful thanks to a certain law teacher but with all that, Isaac figured he'd try something different. He knew that doing better and actually graduating meant a better possible future. He had never really cared but there was no reason not to and the conversation with Luis, despite the fact that nothing too in depth was said, had made him feel like maybe not all teachers were so bad. Hell, maybe it was just him that was the problem. Maybe if he just saw past the prejudice he could do better. He had been in Luis' class earlier today and there wasn't a negative word spoken. It was a bit of a change but all weekend Isaac had actually been nicer to people, funnily enough, no one really caught on to it. Some noticed the different but hadn't thought to question it. In Luis' class he had taken notes and actually sat back and listened. Maybe hooking up had allowed him to stop letting himself get too distracted because he knew he could always just go find him later if he wanted to... Which was what he did. Classes were finally over for the day and having just stepped out of his last one, Isaac moved quickly down the hall. He didn't know if Luis might still be there but students were quickly filling the hallways and he figured he had a minute or two to catch him before he leaves. Earlier that day, Isaac had debated actually saying anything or even going to see him. He wondered if he should leave it a day or two. For all he knew, Luis just wanted something casual but he figured he'd go and find out for himself. Even though Isaac never liked talking about things like that he thought just talking about nothing in particular might help let him know where they stood. He just hoped it was something good because he had already paid Cameron to set him up with Luis for the dance. Getting to door, Isaac looked in for a moment, he smiled when he saw Luis but moved to the side as the last student made her way out. After she stepped out the door, Isaac walked in. "Hey," he said with a smile, still holding on to his books from the previous class. It was Wurthering Heights from his Literature class and a notebook. Isaac hadn't the time to go to his locker and put them away if he wanted to catch Luis before he left. Wearing : this Credit : RINA SAYS RAWR ! @ Caution 2.0

With a bottle of gin standing firmly in the corner of his desk, Luis was relieved it was the end of the day. In spite of the school having many alcoholics it still didn't mean he could drink in front of students in case any of them told. He popped off the cap and took a swig. He washed it down with some holiday cookies he hadn't eaten from before Christmas. His desk was a mess, as usual. Some things belonged to him but it was mostly paper. The bottom drawer has a steam iron in it that he'd bought during lunch, once he was finished up he was going to take it home though. With a disinterested look at his paperwork he decided there wasn't enough knowledge spread amongst the work he had to mark. So he started finishing up the gin. Alcohol wasn't a problem for him but it was an attraction he couldn't deny. It was more reliable than romantic love. He'd tried getting together with people he hardly knew and it never worked out. In his opinion a friendship was required to make a relationship work.
By the time he was finished with the bottle - and had thrown it into recycling - he stood up ready to go. He felt a little woozy at first but it soon subsided. Soon after, a student who he'd heard had been undergoing a complete change in attitude walked through his door with books in his arms. The same guy he'd been set up with for the dance. It was as cold as a snowstorm outside so Luis slipped his coat on with his files firmly placed in his briefcase. They filled the briefcase. And it was only covering the course down to 1910. Less-than-modern law was an entirely different stack of papers. "Hey" Luis replied, he hoped there was no terrible misunderstanding and Isaac was there to yell at him for what happened. There he was, thin as plumbing pipes. Luis could feel his body become tense.

A simple enough response but it left Isaac wondering. It was terrible having to go about this. He didn't like talking about anything to do with relationships or anything like that. It was much simpler when it was just the guys in school or a couple that had just finished. Things were always simpler then, you hook up, you keep hooking up, then everyone assumes you're together and you let them. Soon you'd believe it too and that was just how it worked for him but this time he just wanted a bit of confirmation. Only because it was a little out of the ordinary. This was a teacher and thus things didn't quite go the way they usually would. Moving up to the desk, Isaac could smell the alcohol, glancing down in the waste basket beside the beside, he saw the bottle. "Had a bit of a drink, did ya?" he asked with a smirk, though it was more of a statement than a question. He didn't particularly care, it just made Luis seem even more like a real person and in a way he liked that. A drink or two here and there was perfectly fine as long as the person was still able to say no to it. "Couldn't have hurt you to have shared," he joked, leaning against one of the desks in the middle of the first row and crossing his arms as he looked up at Luis with a smile. It was all fairly casual and laid back but that was a good start. He wouldn't really have bothered having a drink with a teacher and might have actually declined anyway but it seemed like the thing to say. "Do you think you might be up for havin' a coffee or something somewhere?" he asked, it would give them a chance to hang out and talk and if Luis wasn't interested then he could just say no and there would be no harm done. Isaac could probably deal with this just being a casual relationship but he certainly wouldn't mind more. Wearing : this Credit : RINA SAYS RAWR ! @ Caution 2.0

"I'm just heading out to the local shops, you can walk with me if you want." Luis replied. He didn't give a damn what people thought. As long as they weren't holding hands - which didn't seem Isaac's style anyway, nobody would think anymore than they were just talking about work. Even though Luis really had no more work to discuss with Isaac. After all he was improving now that he was actually doing said work. Well, he had always been doing them, just not handing them in. Telling Luis that was the best thing he could've done because now Luis didn't have to fail him, which would've been horrible news to him. Even if he didn't seem all that bothered sometimes. "Was there anything specific you wanted to talk about?" he asked stiffly out of interest. He didn't have to have a topic in mind but figuring out the intention was a good thing to check out. For example if he were to deliver the news that he was leaving town or even just didn't want to see him anymore, well, that all started with coffee didn't it?
He walked out of school with Isaac. The main place he went was to the bookstore, he bought quite a few books from there. Some of them were second hand and some had that new-book smell. He'd seen some parenting books that reminded him of that awful day 'I'm pregnant, luis' she'd said. She never told him it was hers though. He'd told her until she agreed to a paternity test he didn't want to know. Maybe that was wrong, maybe it was fair. What would've been worse was bringing up another man's child. Quietly he walked on. Pulling himself away from the other stores he started to walk toward a quaint little coffee shop. "You said you wanted coffee, right?" he asked, remembering suddenly.

Isaac just smiled a little more, but not enough to make too much of a difference to the one he already had on his face. He nodded and stood up from his temporary leaning post with his hands still in his pockets. The man was pretty calm and relaxed. There wasn't much there to indicate one way or another what he thought of Isaac and that was mildly annoying because Isaac didn't really want to ask. "Yeah actually," he said, "I'd like to talk about you, and your eternal soul. Have you heard of Joseph Smith?-No I'm kidding. Seriously, I just thought maybe we could just talk.. About nothing in particular," he said, switching his books from one hand to the other just to keep from developing some sort of nervous twitch or something. The walk eventually led to a little coffee shop. Though Isaac had managed a quick stop by his locked since it was on the way. "Yeah, yeah that's what I said," Isaac told him, trying to hide the slight uncertainty that was there. He really only said coffee because that was just what people said, least from what he had heard. It was probably silly to just mimic it but what's done was done and Isaac decided he could probably get an iced coffee or something because that he could tolerate. Getting inside, Isaac placed his order and was soon at a table, wondering what it what he would talk to Luis about. His usually confident self was slightly doubting this whole thing. Though how could this ever be awkward after all that happened on the weekend? No, Isaac wouldn't let it be. "So, tell me about you," he said, looking at Luis, regaining the temporarily misplaced confidence that he usually had. "What's your family like? Why on earth you'd want to become a teacher?" he said, listing a few questions that Luis could start on. Wearing : this Credit : RINA SAYS RAWR ! @ Caution 2.0

Isaac reaffirmed that he'd said he wanted a coffee, was that a yes to coffee? He wasn't sure. Now he didn't seem so certain about it. Regardless Luis was happy to have a black coffee and a caramel cookie. He couldn't be there all the time because people would get suspicious he was a coffee-obsessed writer but he loved coffee places. The perfect place to be quiet and think. Teaching in a classroom, quiet was hard to come by. Meeting the cashier with some cash he took a seat with Isaac with his coffee and cookie. Besides it would require a life change of quitting his job to have more time to sit around at coffee shops moping about life's unfortunates. Something, some insecurity made him want to lose weight anyway. Stuffing his face with caramel cookies probably wasn't the way to go with that one. Unless he started working out more.
When he recieved the coffee it felt like a mammoth portion. No way was he going to be able to drink all that without being up all night. He'd never be able to cope with such weight. It wasn't fair to hate on the coffee shop for it though so he sipped it gracefully with his tongue lapping up the sloshes of coffee stuck in the lid. "Honestly I hate teaching. There were just some.. complications that made things difficult to continue with the job I used to have as a law consultant. My family is pretty tight-knit. I have five siblings, my father didn't really give a damn." he shrugged, he was over it. It was so long ago, there was really no use living in the past. Whatever fuel had urged Isaac to ask him questions also triggered Luis's curiosity about Isaac. What did he really know about him? Teaching students was one thing, you didn't really learn about them as people doing that. Isaac seemed very much the handler of his own life, but Luis was sure he still had people he could count on.
"I guess it's like a telescope, huh? the family life reflecting how fucked up I am. Urgh what coffee brand is this?" he pulled a wrinkled face for a second and put the coffee down. He wouldn't be drinking that again. Twisting the lid back on he rested his arms on the table. "You ever feel like that? Like the reason you are who you are is because of how you were brought up?" he asked curiously.

Isaac sat back in his seat, looking all cool and relaxed like he usually did, though his mind was still ticking away more so than usual. When his iced coffee came, Isaac just said a quick thanks and let left it there. It was cold anyway so leaving it to sit for a while wasn't going to do much damage or make any real difference at all. He looked up to see Luis drinking his coffee. The guy seemed pretty calm and relaxed and Isaac sort of mirrored that just a little. For a moment, Isaac went from just watching him casually to staring at those lips and then came the inevitable train of thought that would distract him from what he came here for. Why did the man have to go and be so darn attractive. Isaac just thought about it as Luis spoke. "Shit happens I s'pose," he said, a bit of sympathy in his tone. What else was he suppose to say to that? The guy hated what he was doing and now he was stuck doing it because of some kind of fuck up at his old job. Shit happens pretty much covered it. "Guess ya can't pick ya family either," he added, he couldn't really relate to that. His immediate family was great but his grandparents weren't so nice. For what they did to his mother, he'd probably never forgive them. Family didn't do that. Family wouldn't just decide to kick you out one day. Though if she had stayed, he never would have been born so despite all the good and the bad, he loved his parents and his sister. As bad as the topic was, Isaac couldn't help but just laugh when Luis switched from talking about how fucked up he was to how back the coffee was. It was a sudden swap over and it was funny. "I don't think you're fucked up, least not from where I'm sitting," he told him. There weren't many teachers he liked.. Okay, there were none, but Luis was an exception at least. Isaac nodded. "I've never really talked about it but I guess I do feel like that sometimes," he admitted. "It's like there two of me. the one that's nice and happy and likes his life and the one that just wants to hate everyone and everything," he told him with a shrug. He knew what made feel like that too. "I hate my grandparents for what they did but at the same time, my family's great. Mum's probably the best person I know and dad's always there when ya need him and my little sister Kara's just bloody amazing. She's got down syndrome and she loves daisies and music. I used to play the piano for her... Mozart's Symphony 40's one of her favorites. I must have played it a million times," he said with a shrug as he looked out the window in thought. He missed his family but there wasn't much he could do about it. At least it explained why he could be so split on things, almost like there were two sides of him. "I wouldn't trade my mother for anyone in the world. She looked after us with very little money. She's a strong woman I adore her and my siblings.. well, i don't see much of them these days but I know they're all happy with their lives. My mother loved playing the piano, i know some of my siblings learnt to play but it wasn't something I took an interest in. I was more into guitar." Luis replied when he told him he couldn't pick his family. Truth is he wouldn't replace them, not for anything. Not even his father because it made his family a stronger unit. At least for the most part. He knew his father had broken his mother's heart and made everything fall apart for her. He eyed Isaac's iced coffee. Iced.. coffee. He'd never tried it, seemed strange to him to have cold coffee. Why would they do it to a perfectly good coffee?
"So that Symphony has sentimental meaning for you." it wasn't a question, more like a statement as Luis pushed back on his chair a little. His fingers laid against the tip of the table. Luis was naturally relaxed when it came to hearing about other people. The best thing he believed a person could do in that situation is just to listen. Granted that normally came before the sleeping together part, but he was never a very orthodox kinda guy. He clamped his lips together for half a second, taking in what Isaac had to say. He could see in his eyes he missed his family. Luis couldn't blame him, family were often the only constant things in a person's life. Luis nodded slowly to show he was listening then came back with the question "is there any job out there you could see yourself doing to help out the family? I mean most of my money on my first job pretty much went home with me."

Isaac just smiled a little. It wasn't nice not being to afford all these things but they had that in common. "Mine was the same and she loved playing the piano we couldn't afford one till I was about ten and that was around the time my sister was born," he explained. "She's been teaching it ever since," he told Luis. "Yeah? Yeah I play the guitar a little after that but the drums are more my thing. Just heavy beats and just doing it and not stopping, it just sort of appeals to me I s'pose," he explained. It was a good way to release any anger and it was a safe way to do it too. Isaac noticing Luis looking at his iced coffee. "Wanna try some?" he asked, pushing the cup toward him. "It's just like much milder coffee," he explained. "I've never liked actual coffee, it's always too strong and bitter for me, even with a lot of milk and sugar," he said. No, he didn't like it bitter, that just didn't work for him. "I s'pose I like tea more than coffee but that just adds to the stereotype though, doesn't it?" he said. The Brits and their tea, yeah, Isaac definitely wouldn't help change that stereotype. "I s'pose it does, yeah. Mum loves it too, I s'pose that's why Kara does," he explained. He liked it as well or he would have gotten sick of playing it by now. He figured that was a given. It was strange how Luis was calm and composed. He was a lot like those counselors and psychiatrists in that way but Isaac never liked them. He couldn't talk to someone about anything if he knew it was their job. It wasn't Luis' job to listen though so that made this entirely different. "Yeah well, just being here's helping them out," Isaac explained, knowing that it would probably make absolutely no sense at first. "I'm only here because of my grand parents anyway and being here means they'll give them enough money to really make a difference so I thought why not," he told him. "If going away for a year or so will help them then why not just do it, right?" he said, more rhetorical that not. He knew he had made the right decision, there was no need for anyone else to justify it when he knew it was right. "I s'pose I do know what I want to do though but chances of me actually gettin' there are pretty slim," Isaac told him, he wouldn't actually say it just yet, for fear of being laughed at. Luis eyed the iced coffee tentatively. He wondered how Isaac could stand to damage coffee in that way. Didn't all Englishmen love tea and coffee too much to do such a thing? Out of politeness though he brought the cup to his lips and took a sip of the cold liquid and fought the shiver. Definitely not an experience he was going to repeat. Going back to the talk of the symphony however Luis wondered what other more sentimental secrets Isaac had. "Mozart's music isn't normally associated with modern teenagers. I guess that there's always more to people then you can judge from appearances." he commented.
"That's the thing about family. They make you care enough to want to help them out even if it goes against your own ideas. It's not a bond that can be broken on a whim." Luis told Isaac even though it was obvious he understood that already. Why would you want to break a bond like that anyway? It was easy to criticize your family sometimes but when you can look back the better memories always seemed to surface first for Luis. Especially as he had so many of them now that he thought about it more.
"What do you want to do. Hardly a need to be secretive now is there?" Luis joked curiously. He didn't want to seem to pushy. Normally if somebody didn't tell you something immediately it was either because it was very private or they wanted you to ask specifically. It was sometimes hard to tell the difference which could make things awkward when you pressed too far on personal subjects. Isaac seemed in a talkative mood though and he was eager to know more. He liked to listen and considered himself adept at asking the right questions. That could soon be proven wrong however.

Isaac held back a laugh at Luis' reaction to trying to ice coffee. He didn't seem to like it too much and Isaac thought it was pretty funny but he chose not to say a word about it. "There's more to everyone than what you can see," Isaac told him. "I guess we just don't always bother look, do we?" he said. It was true and Isaac was guilty of it too. He had done the same thing with Luis, he had just assumed that he was some teacher and that they were all the same. "Doesn't work for everyone though," he said sounding a little bitter as he referred to the way his grandparents had treated his mother, just abandoning her like that. She had a choice though. She could have gotten rid of the 'mistake' and stopped seeing the man her parents didn't approve of. She could have went on living the good life but then Isaac never would have existed. That was why he so close to his mother, because she made that decision and when he got older, he realized what that meant and what she had given up. Isaac scrunched up his nose in disapproval when the question was repeated. He really didn't want to answer it but he knew that he would have to,. He wanted to get to know Luis and that was a two way street so he really did need to learn to just open up a bit more, though with all that he had said so far, Isaac was doing pretty well with that. "It's stupid anyway," he told him, not making eye contact. He knew that Luis sounded like he was joking but he couldn't just keep avoiding it forever. "I kind of maybe," he began before muttering his answer, "want to be a lawyer," he said, making sure to say it quick and as inaudibly as he could manage. He could probably do it if he actually tried and he was now but this was his final year it wasn't as though he was going to get high enough grades unless he really worked at it. It was possibly but Isaac didn't want to think it was and then be let down. Wearing : this Credit : RINA SAYS RAWR ! @ Caution 2.0

"a LAWYER? Well whatever your reason may be, thank you for telling me. I won't ask." he assured Isaac. He didn't want to conduct too many questions to him. After all it was a coffee meeting not a job interview. He didn't want to feel like he was prodding him. "Anyway you asked what my family is like. They're very into our Spanish roots. I remember when my younger siblings were babies she used to sing Spanish lullabies. Then we moved to Whitstable in Kent in England. My older siblings are twins and they couldn't stand the move. They moved out almost immediately and started to travel Europe. I followed by example and came to Maine." he explained, returning to his caffeine.
Doesn't work for everyone though Luis kept his thoughts about that to himself. Isaac would tell him what he meant if he wanted to, otherwise Luis wouldn't lose sleep over it. They were just relaxing with no pressure on either side. "I want to think of you as a friend so i'm going to trust you when I say that my migration into the U.S isn't exactly defined as 'legal'. I guess I can work around it pretty well." for a law teacher he spent an awful amount of time dodging the law. Sex with a student, illegal immigration. That was the brilliance of it. It'd be like accusing a teacher of paedophilia. it just didn't fit. It happend, but it was seen as less likely to occur.

Isaac's eyes widen for a second with shock, how in the hell had he managed to hear that? He shrunk down in sit seat for a moment, but covered it up to look like he was just moving to get comfortable. It was just what he was interested in but Isaac was still a little embarrassed about it. "It's just interesting is all," he told him. He didn't ask and he probably wouldn't judging by the way things were going but he was letting Luis get to know him a bit better, that was the whole point. He wanted the guy to like him, so he knew this wouldn't have to just be entirely physical, and liking him required knowing him first. Isaac just sat back and listened. "Maine's a bit far out of Europe though," he said, just throwing that in, not really needing a response. It was interesting though, knowing where he was from, where he had been. He just let it go when nothing was said about his comment. He wasn't going to go into it unless asked directly. It was a pretty long story and not exactly the happiest one either and since this was just a casual 'friendly' conversation, as he had just found out by Luis' words, he wouldn't go into detail. "Well, I'm definitely not repeatin' a word of that," he told him with a smile. "Wouldn't want them kickin' you out or anything," he added. Luis was definitely going to stay at least till the end of the year when Isaac graduated and finally got out. Wearing : this Credit : RINA SAYS RAWR ! @ Caution 2.0[/quote]

Luis could tell, like looking in a mirror, that there was a lot more to isaac's story just like there was a lot more to his. It was curious, really. Just like Luis had never anticipated an interest in Law. Not because he didn't believe Isaac was capable it just seemed like his greatest efforts weren't entirely portrayed in his classroom. Like many other professors got him to work harder. Apparently he'd been wrong. "Why does it interest you?" he asked, taking another sip of his expresso. He was about half way through it. He liked the expresso far more than anything iced. Maybe since the whole point was getting to know each other, it was nice that the atmosphere was so neutral. In a classroom they had to remain professional and in the bedroom they were.. well, not entirely in the mood for talking.
"Thank you. It means a lot. As you can probably tell I don't open up a lot." he shrugged helplessly. His face was a trio of awards; best lie, most shocked and most sarcastic. It was a lie because he'd opened up a lot back home. It was only since he came to Maine he was closed off. He was shocked because he was admitting it and he was sarcastic because 'a lot' was a miserable understatement. He raised his eyebrow as Isaac shuffling in his seat. Had he made him uncomfortable somehow? Maybe he was embarassed how he'd confessed a love of Law. Luis could only sit back and give himself a hard time at how personal he was probably being. He supposed it didn't matter too much when he wasn't planning on being in Maine for long, he'd probably be back in Europe before the end of the year.

"It'd be challenging," he said, looking out the window as he thought about it, he never really wondered why, he just decided one day that it would be interesting to try it and so then he decided, just secretly that this was what he might like to do. "Our neighbor got into a bit of trouble. He'd never done anythin' wrong before but he couldn't afford a very good lawyer and he wanted to represent himself which was all well and good because he was innocent but no one really seemed to take him too seriously. That was just one case, but I think that if I could maybe help someone be understood and more importantly be heard and then it'd be.. good I s'pose," he said, not really knowing how to explain himself, he hadn't prepared any sort of answer so this was all just coming out of him now in no kind of order. It was just his thoughts. "Yeah you'd be a hard one to get to know," Isaac said, sitting back with his iced coffee in his hand and the slightest hint of a smirk forming on his face. He was happy to hook up but it seemed that talking to him required a lot more effort. "Why is that though?" Isaac asked, wondering if there was a specific cause or reason behind it. "Did something happen?" he asked, though his tone wasn't forceful at all, nor overly curious, he was just asking a simply question and if it were answered then good and if not then he would probably let it go. Luis could have have always been this way but Isaac thought that it would be worth putting the question forward anyway. "How long do ya plan on staying in Maine?" Isaac asked, wondering what the man's plans were for the future. Seeing as it wasn't quite so legal, he could have planned to move before too long or he might stay for as long as was possible.
