Humans can sometimes think that they're invincible. Ha, how cute. They think that they can do whatever they want and not get into any trouble. She was a victim from that. Someone did whatever they wanted with her and thought they could get away with it. Well, it was proven true so far. No one believed what she said, even to this day, not even her brother. That's funny, because that was her best friend. You'd think that he'd believe her when she was sent off for suicide attempts, but he just thought she was seeking attention.
It was hard to just forget something like that had happened, no matter how hard she tried. She had started to get better, you know, up until Alex, the reason she was here, and Connor, her loving brother, had been sent here. The day that she saw Alex, she fell for his tricks, regretting it ever since. He told Connor, too, and now she's even more of a disgrace. She was seriously considering becoming a mute; never talk to anyone and just ignore what everyone says. It'd be so much easier. Everytime she opened her mouth, it seemed, she just caused for trouble for herself. Besides, the kids here were fucked up anyway, why should she bother with them?
She couldn't help but think about all of that on the bus ride to town. It had been bothering her for a while now; it's all that's been on her mind and it was driving her crazy. When the bus finally stopped, she waited until everyone was off the bus, then she slowly stood up and walked off the bus, the drivers eyes on her back. She let her brown eyes look around the town for a moment until she began walking towards the beach, since she hadn't been there yet. She didn't really come to town often, just wanting to stay in her dorm. That's what she's been doing lately, staying in her dorm, afraid that she'd see the people she didn't want to see. The whole she was at the stupid school was to get better, and seeing them wouldn't help her at all.
Finally, she made it to the beach. A small smile came to her lips, the beach making her forget all of the stupid snow that had been laying around. She walked up to where the water met the land and picked up some of the dry sand, letting each tiny grain fall through her fingers. She wiped the excess off on her clothes before letting her eyes watch the waves break. It was calming, actually. She sat down in the dry sand, her eyes staying on the water. The sound of the waves were soothing, and she let her eyes close, just enjoying this moment. She wasn't worrying about anything, just relaxing. Slowly, she laid back into the sand, her brown hair circling her child-like face. If only every moment could be like this, but of course that would never happen. Something always had to ruin a perfect moment eventually. Well, it always happened for her. It's how it's always been for her, no matter what. She let out a relaxed sigh and opened her eyes, looking at the gray sky for a moment, before closing them again. She didn't know how long she was able to stay in this spot, now forgetting when she was supposed to meet the bus, but honestly.. she didn't care. She wished they'd leave her, but that wouldn't happen.

Zachery closed his eyes as he listened to the melody streaming through his iPod's thin white earphones. It was one of the few things that helped him mellow out after a particularly stressful day, which was everyday in this place. It sucked. His only real reason for trying to stay here and not be relocated was his sister. He hadn't seen her in years, and if getting to know her better meant letting these people believe that he had a 'problem,' then so be it. The blonde didn't think that he had any big issues. He could stop using drugs if he wanted to, and if people weren't so close-minded, he wouldn't punch them in the face and dislocate their jaw. See, all of that made perfect sense.
But Zach sighed. He knew that it was a lot more than that. He was a people pleaser, it was in his blood. He always put other people before himself. He didn't really get a chance to explore other things in his life, because football made his parents happy. It made his father happy, really. And although he loved the sport, sometimes it became so demanding to be 'perfect' that Zach wasn't sure how to live inside his own skin. Any little mess up would cost him everything...
And actually, it did, when he was caught.
He didn't do drugs because he wanted attention. That's what being the football quarterback was for. Drugs was an escape. It helped him forget about the loss of his sister (or who she used to be, anyway), or drown out his parent's bickering, or let him be... well, whoever he wanted to be. It gave him the courage to try things. He never felt more like himself than when he was high, and yes, sometimes it scared him. But other times it gave him hope. The hope that maybe one day he'd be able to make his own decisions, find his own way, and still be successful. But for now, Zach would settle for being a Grade A screw-up. At least there were people here that didn't know about his failures, so he could start all over again. Status meant very little here. It wasn't just about money; it was about getting what you needed and getting it easily.
The jock was starting to worry about running out too soon and where he would get his next stash. But for today, he'd have a nice day out at the beach. The rest of his worries could melt away with the colorful sky that looked like a painted canvas. Exhaling slowly when he stepped off the bus, a bright smile broke across Zachery's lips. It was beautiful out here. In fact, it was easy to lose track of time. After going out for a quick swim and wiggling his feet in the sand (making some sort of 'feet angels,' if you believe in such a thing), he tried to judge what time it was by the shadows of the sun. He saw a documentary on the Discovery Channel about how they did it in the past, but he'd fallen asleep reading a comic book. Damn, that sure would come in handy now.
Spotting another student, Zach slowly walked over to her. She seemed pretty peaceful lying in the sand, and he really didn't want to wake her, so he just took a seat beside her and stared out at the waves. At least if he was late, they would be late together. He still didn't really have the hang of this whole bus thing, or schedules, or nurse shifts. For now, he was pretty content just listening to the waves crashing against the shore and relaxing as the sea breeze drifted into his nostrils.

Connor needed out of that school. Even if it was just for a few hours of peace from all the crazies that lurked there. He didn't need to be at that school. No matter how many people said that he had a 'problem', he wasn't going to believe them. He wasn't addicted to anything, not even cocaine. He could quit whenever the hell he felt like it, but at this point, he didn't see a reason to. He liked sex, parties, drugs, alcohol, women, they were all one in the same. There was no way in hell he was giving up any one of them, especially when giving up one meant giving up them all. He did have an addictive personality, he would admit, but he also had excellant self control. He would stop when he wanted to, and that wasn't any time soon.
It was likely that having a vehicle while at Hawthorne was definitely against regulation, but he wasn't going to let it phase him. There was no way he was going to rely on public transportation to get around. Especially when he had a perfectly good Toyota 4Runner parked by the school. Yes, he had made sure that his mother had let him keep it. Bribery was one of his gifts. And he stuck by it proudly. He was good at getting what he wanted and making people feel bad until they gave it to him. It wasn't the best personality trait, but at this point in his life, he really didn't give a shit.
Driving through town, he shifted into first gear as he neared the beach. That would be the perfect place to get some time alone. Granted, apparently a bus full of students from Hawthorne were in town. He growled to himself softly. There really was no escaping that place after all. Forgetting about them completely, he grabbed his windbreaker and his keys, locked the suv and made his way toward the waves. He had walked for a good fifteen minutes before seeing a girl lying in the sand and a boy sitting next to her. It didn't take him a second longer to recognize those dark brown waves. Smirking to himself, he walked up to them and stood above her. He never really could say no to any oppurtunity at messing with her. "On a little date with your boyfriend, Victoria?"

This was actually pretty nice; not having a care in the world at the moment. She was able to forget everything that had happened before she came here and all of the shit that happened while she was here. She had been losing hope that she wasn't going to get better being in this place, mainly because the school didn't really care to help kids like herself get better. If they did, they would probably hold more counselor meetings for her than they have been. She'd only seen her counselor only a few times, and even then they didn't talk about her. Which was a good thing; he wasn't pushing her to talk about what brought her here.
This was different than how she'd been acting for the past few days. She had just been a shell, she was just.. there. So, right now, she actually felt like a person. That calming feeling was telling her that.
She didn't know how long she'd been here, but she didn't really care. She was enjoying just laying here. She let out a breath and soon after, she felt a presence beside her. She was tempted to open her eyes and see who it was, but she just couldn't be bothered. They weren't bothering her, maybe they just wanted some company. She moved to where her hands were behind her head, letting herself get into a more comfortable position than she was before. It was eating at her, though. She wanted to know who was beside her, so she peeked one eye open and looked to her side. It was a boy, just looking out at the waves. She smiled a little bit and closed her eyes again. He wasn't going to bother her, so she wasn't going to bother him. If he wanted to talk to her, he would say something. She wasn't asleep, she knew everything that was going on so it wouldn't exactly interrupt her of anything.
It had been a few more minutes before she heard a voice; a voice she so did not want to hear. Hope let out a frustrated sigh and rubbed at her eyes before opening them to glare at her brother. She sat up and wiped the sand off of her back as much as she could before looking over at the boy that was sitting beside her. She gave him an apologetic look, because she knew that Connor was going to annoy her as much as he could. Her eyes shot back to Connor and she crossed her arms over her chest. She didn't say anything to his little statement for a moment, she just looked over him. She hadn't seen him in months, and yes she missed him. He pretty much looked the same, the same stupid smirk and everything. Finally, she opened her mouth to speak, "Shove off, Connor." It wasn't anything clever, she wasn't exactly the greatest when it came to standing up to her brother. She was never good at it, to be honest. And if she was, she always felt bad for yelling at him afterwards and that pretty much sucked on her part, because he didn't feel any remorse for what he said to her.

He had spaced out a bit staring out at the water. It was just so quiet and calm out here that the rest of the world just seemed to melt away. He was about to comment on it, his lips parting and everything, but he paused. Then the blonde was vaguely aware of some footsteps approaching them, finally jerked out of his thoughts when a male voice spoke. Sitting next to a girl, Zach could clearly rule out that it wasn't her. But at least he got a name, along with... an incorrect title? His bright blue eyes finally shifted away from their fixed spot on the water to watch the interaction between the two. It was easy to note that the girl didn't seem very happy at all.
But then she threw him an apologetic look, one which made Zach furrow his eyebrows slightly as he got up on to his feet. As far as he could tell, they were both young enough to attend Hawthorne. Now, he could remember the girl from the bus, but the guy was still a blank slate. And then Victoria called him Connor, so now at least they had names to their faces. Well, that was progress, he supposed.
"I'm Zachery," he added with a charming, yet slightly lopsided smile, while looking at Connor but also lowkey introducing himself to the girl. He didn't dispute the whole 'boyfriend' bit, since she seemed nice enough and the guy acted like he was out for a kill. He would have offered his hand to shake, but since this wasn't really a formal occasion, he decided to leave the pleasantries to a minimum. Besides, he really had no business in this conversation.

All Connor could do was sit there and laugh softly at the two sitting in the sand. The blonde just looked out of place, like he wasn’t sure if he should say something or not. Perhaps it wasn’t her boyfriend, but at this point in time, he didn’t give a shit either way. He was just going to mess with her because he could. Sticking his hands into the front pockets of his jeans, he swayed forward and back lightly on the balls of his feet, a smirk clearly plastered on his face.
He let out a bark of laughter as she came back with ‘shove off, connor.’ Such a witty remark indeed. ”Shove off? And miss all the fun? I don’t think so.” His blue eyes shifted over to the guy sitting next to her as he stood up and brushed himself off. Raising one eyebrow at him, he smirked lightly as he introduced himself. Zachary? He’d heard that name before. Granted, he knew a lot of Zach’s, but this more along the lines of hearing it recently. From a date he had had.
Continuing his casual sway, he nodded and replied nice enough, ”Nice to meet you, Zachery. And as a forewarning about your lovely little girlfriend right there, she’s a liar and tends to sleep around. So regular STD checks are a must. Especially seeing as she apparently slept with my best friend, and there’s no saying what he’s got if you know what I mean.” Connor spoke in such a casual and slightly joking manner. Somewhat like at dinner party. Granted, the topic wasn’t dinner party worthy, but his voice portrayed it as though it were. ”Right, Hope?” He said looking down at her and smiling in a very condescending manner.
It wasn't like he had much room to talk, seeing as he slept around with everyone. But his sister was different. His best friend woulnd't just rape some girl, especially his sister. They weren't the roofie types to begin with.

She had tried everything in her power to stay away from her brother since she'd found out that he went to this school now, but it obviously didn't work. The bad thing about her brother, he had more attitude than she would ever have, she stood no chance against him in a verbal match. Yes, she did know how to handle herself most of the time, but when it came to people like Connor, Alex, or any of her old friends, she would lose majorly.
Hopes eyes looked over to the boy, Zachery, as he introduced himself. It just sucked for him that he had to be here when her brother had decided to try and make her life a living hell. Soon, her eyes moved back to her brother. Well, this was awkward. She knew that Connor would say something, which wouldn't be anywhere close to true, and she wouldn't know what Zachery would be thinking. Hopefully, he wouldn't believe him. She refused to let her brother keep her from making new friends. She needed to learn how to stand up for herself when it came to her brother and Alex.
Now being the last to be sitting down, she stood up soon after Zachery and crossed her arms over her chest. Her assumptions were right, Connor was going to say something about her. A frown came to her lips and she shook her head in disagreement. No matter what she said, he refused to believe her, which just pissed her off more. She just didn't understand why he didn't believe his sister over Alex. She had never lied to him before, so why would she start, especially with something as terrible as that? It just didn't make sense. Whatever it was that was keeping him from believing her, she didn't know. She was going to find out, however, and get him to believe her.
"None of that is true," Hope said quietly, looking down at the sand and making a small hole with the tip of her shoe. She glanced back up at her brother and frowned slightly, "Please, quit trying to ruin a good day, and telling lies to people."

Zachery could tell that the focus of the other blonde wasn't on him, but that was easy to notice when you were usually the center of attention. No, this Connor guy seemed to zero in on Victoria, for one reason or another. It was giving him a bad vibe. Still, he didn't want to assume anything, because judging a book by its cover was lame. It didn't take very long, however. Soon enough, the other guy spoke and it seemed like he should care about the girl's actions... of course, that was assuming that they were 'dating,' so maybe it would make more sense then. At this point, it was pretty easy to pick sides, regardless.
"Likewise, Connor. And well, you know what they say about the company you keep," he said with a shrug of his shoulders, referring to people being able to tell what kind of person you are just by looking at your friends. So if Connor's best friend was a whore, maybe Connor was a whore too. So was he, for hanging around with Hope, apparently. It was a double-edged sword. "I'm guessing you want me to thank you for giving me a heads up, but I'm not really going to do that, man."
This was one of those rare occasions where he could use a smoke. Okay, not so rare, but more because he didn't want to lose his temper. Zach looked to Hope as she tried to plead her case, seeing how easily the older blonde was able to cut her down to size. She could easily be like Belle, his sister, and he knew that he'd fight with a guy for a lot less if they talked about her like that. He wondered if Hope had anyone who'd stick up for her. This guy had no sense of respect.
"I believe you, Hope," Zachery said, if only because she seemed like she needed someone to say it. "Look, there's no need to get into a hot fuss here. Let's just mellow out and enjoy the beach."
