Lainey woke to her alarm blaring at her from the bed side table and her roommates yell of ‘shut the hell up.’ Sitting up abruptly she clumsily reached for her bedside alarm clock. Finding it, she slammed it on the table to shut it up, it worked. Yawning, she got out of bed and changed into workout clothing.
It was Monday morning, sometime around 5. She had promised herself that she would get up and get in shape again. Since getting to this place she had let her fitness, well let’s just call it lack. Really, it was nonexistent.
Back home, Lainey would walk up with the sun at least 3 times a week regardless of how late she stayed out the night before. If she hadn’t gone to bed yet, that was okay too. Every Monday, Wednesday and Thursday morning she would be up bright and early doing something, from cardio to weights. She finally decided to make that habit stick here.
After dressing in her sweatpants and sports bra she headed down to the fitness center on the grounds. After some stretching, the young brunette started on a light jog across the open gym area before heading over to the treadmill. She placed her headphone into her ears and started to run.

'Pain is weakness leaving the body' 'Blood is red sweat' 'Semper Fidelis'
Three statements she was quite familiar with. Clare hadn't been able to sleep much that night and so the eighteen year old had woken at four in the morning, because of the season being winter it was still quite dark out and so she was able to grab some clothing and slip into it within the darkness. Which really all she needed was a pair of track shorts and her ipod. The toned girl stretched and cursed the cause of whatever interrupted her sleep before exiting quietly. Her eyes were useless in the inky blackness and yet she made her way easily down from her dorm room through the back-halls that nobody bothered to walk down anymore and took her shortcut to the fitness center where she spent most of her time reliving the stress that often built up when she was in class. She was stuck next to some real perverted dude in her first bell class and what a nice way to start the day be relieving any anxiety she had before that class got underway.
Now before here she had been the star of the track team, outrunning, outgunning, and stunning those idiots sitting the stands. If you asked Clare why she ran she would tel you it makes her feel free. She goes to another place, away from the people that judge you with their stares and aim to hurt you or whatever. During her workouts she was in her prime, and was in her most friendly mood and with that, she turned her ipod on, and set it to shuffle. Which ironically it began to play one of her favorite workout songs, a techno, high speed and loud song that set the pace for her runs. She aimed to run at least a half mile by the end of this, if she didn't well that was okay but she'd be doubling up at the end of the day. The brunette began her four laps around the track in the gym and if anyone caught her running maybe they'd be just as stunned by the way she ran.
The gait was flawless, as if she ran upon air. Her focus was not on anyone who thought of coming in now, it was merely on keeping up with the beat of the song playing on her ipod. For a girl who ran four laps which equated to a mile in five minutes she had two hours to run and run and run until her heart's content. But she didn't just run, she had to keep every part of her body completely fit, or she wasn't satisfied. Part of her wished that this school had a track team, she'd happily join that and run for this school, and show them all back here how its done. By no means was Clare cocky at all, nah, she knew her limits and as she crossed the finish line on the track for the fourth time she then began her sit ups. She was wearing a simple gray tee shirt with her old school's mascot and track team on it as she continued her workout.
It hadn't been until she made her way to the treadmill she realized she wasn't alone. Pausing in the middle of the song Its my life by Bon Jovi she tilted her head at the other two girls and gave them each a smile before hopping up on another treadmill a few machines away from the other runner, and a few away on the other side of the biker. "'s Nice to see I'm not alone today" she commented quietly before turning the machine below her on and setting the speed at the beginning for just a mere 3.0 miles per hour and running once again.

The brown haired girl was enjoying the quiet. She didn't expect anyone to be awake this early and even if they were she didn't expect anyone to come down to the fitness center until later today if at all. So she was surprised when a younger looking girl walked in and headed toward the bikes Even more surprising, another girl walked in and ended up by the treadmills. 'Interesting' she thought as she increased her speed slightly to keep her heart rate high.
Lainey smiled at the second girls comment. Was it nice to see more people? Lainey didn't particularly think so. Sure, she loved company, but she was used to peaceful times at the gym back home. None of her old friends would be caught dead working out.
She eyed the girls around her having never met either of them. Sure she was still relevantly new but she thought she had met most of the girls by now. After a few moments of silence she decided if they were all going to be up this early they may as well know each other, especially since neither looked like they planned on leaving for a while.
"I'm Lainey" She said through the silence waiting for a response. [/size]
