Everything felt so wrong, so utterly off. It was part of the reason Casey Downes couldn't spend the night in her dorm. She had to go out, she had to do something. She was tired of dwindling away inside this school. She wasn't like these people, she didn't fit in. Even amongst society's outcasts she didn't fit in. She wasn't a whore, never popped pills, didn't drink alcohol-- Hell she had never been kissed... Yet she was thrown into isolation more than any other student due to her violent tendencies.. They were all provoked but still, they still saw her as a threat-- albeit when threatened. Still, a medium risk threat with potential to become a high risk.
Looking in the mirror one last time, she saw her roommate's empty bed in the peripheral of her eye. She sighed, other girls had the courage to leave when they pleased... Yet Casey felt doomed, trapped to this place. Her emerald eyes glanced to the door, it was so easy to walk out of this place. Her hands shook slightly, as they always had-- Only it was more noticeable. Sighing she mentally scolded herself for being so childish in her fears. As she opened the door, she glanced around nervously. Like an owl-- She noticed everything. As she snuck out of the building, she wondered where she should go... A smirk came over her face as she thought of the beach. Yes it was a long way to walk, but time was on her side as it was only eleven at night. A small smile passed her lips as she walked the quiet path into town. She preferred the silence, the stillness of the night. Music was the only real noise she appreciated, other than the noises of nature. She hated people to an extent. There were those she liked, who she could stand listening to chat for hours.. Those people were perfectly fine to her, it was the others though-- that reminded her of crickets.
It was funny, before the death of her brother-- Casey didn't mind people, since then though? She developed a loathing for the species. It was easily masked, and after meeting her-- You'd never think that a girl that small, and that nice could be so hateful. It was a secret not many people knew, but everyone could tell when she mercilessly bashed someone's face in. It didn't seem like much time had passed as she arrived in town. Her black rimmed eyes glanced around, knowing fully well students were down here. She didn't feel like going out of her way though, and the petite girl headed down the streets at a rather fast pace. She wanted to get to the ocean, she needed a sense of peace.. Something to calm her down, she didn't even know why she was so anxious. It was like something inside of her was in a panicked rush, like it was gasping for air while being smothered.
It confused Casey, in all honesty. She hadn't been so desperate to get out in some time. Maybe it was being confined in a building for so long... Sometimes people just snapped, and it seemed shocking-- Looking back, that Casey remained somewhat stable. The salt air of the water filled her lungs and was like albuterol to a person with asthma. Finally she could breathe in the air. Finally she felt somewhat alive. As she got closer to the water she took off her shoes, and let the end of the waves hit her tiny feet. Glancing up at the constellations, she smiled slightly.. For once, she felt at peace, and it shocked her a bit. Nothing could take this away from her, not anyone. Even if they tried, it was too... Perfect.
