it was one of those days, and frankly casey felt pretty amazing. she didn't know why, but at this point she refused to question it. instead she was going to be like a hawk riding the thermals. smiling to herself, she got ready for the day. the morning rays falling through her window. her roommate seemed less than cheery, but this was a good day for casey-- and she couldn't be bothered with other's people's troubles; unless they were close. if they were one of her besties? she would hear them even if she had a migraine and cramps. glancing in the mirror, she sighed. glancing at the old polaroid of her and her brother, aidan... her heart sunk to her stomach. people had told her to get rid of it, and everyone who did-- got punched in the jaw.
they just didn't get it, and frankly casey was in no mood for explanations.
biting her lower lip, she threw her hair in a low ponytail and exited the dorm. as she walked--the pieces that belonged fell into place, giving her a messy yet artsy and classy look. the sleeves were pushed up to her forearm-elbow area and she loved how she looked. watching the other students pass by her-- she noticed everything. their faces, some seemed happy for the miliseconds of half-freedom they got before being stuck in a classroom. the day went by in a flash, and she had reached her break-- now what to do? looking at her phone, she pulled up deborah's number and texted where she was-- the lounge. it was... a school lounge, but it wasn't the worst place she'd ever been to.
there were a few other people in the room, and the chatter was slightly annoying as the banshees of whatever "celebreality" show moaned and bitched on the television. she had one question, 'who honestly watches that shit?'. quickly, the junior shook the question out of her head. last thing she needed to do was offend the wrong person and get into a fight. isolation would be a bad way to end the long day. as she saw her brunette friend, a smile came upon her glossy lips, "hey deborah! how are you?" she greeted sweetly, yes. in this hellhole, she could say that deb was one of her few 'close' friends--- maybe even the closest one she had.

she pulled the covers over her head as the bright sunlight manged to hit her eyes. to say that she was not a morning person was a bit of an understatement. she was dead, a zombie and she would not wake up for anything in the world. and anyone who dared to wake her up better of brought coffee for her. besides the sun hitting her eyes, her roomies alarm clock had woken her up from a rather frightening nightmare. so maybe waking up wasn't such a bad thing. pulling the covers away from her, she grabbed her things and headed off to take a quick shower. if she didn't have coffee on hand a shower would wake her up.
she had come back to her room all nicely dressed. really she wasn't going to risk walking through the hallways with nothing but a towel, while she walked to her room. she would die of embarrassment if anyone saw her like that. she wasn't one of those girls that showed off everything just for fun. rolling her eyes as she pushed those thoughts away, she combed her slightly damp hair rather quickly and grabbed the books she would need for her first classes. she had almost ran late to her first class because she had went back to her room to get her phone. one thing besides coffee that she would not live without. classes went by like a blur. she took notes when she was suppose to, but really she was waiting to go to her photography class.
she got up and left her last class. she had around a thirty to forty five minute break before her next class started. she almost screamed when she felt her phone vibrate. laughing softly at herself for letting herself get startled she looked at her phone and smiled. it was her closest friend, casey. they seemed to click right off the bat when they had met. if it wasn't for having different dorms, deborah would be stuck to her like glue. making her way towards the student lounge she spotted her friend right away. it wasn't hard especially since casey had a very bright hair color."hey casey! im good, bored but then again all these classes are boring, well except for my photography class. anything interesting happen to you while I was away?"deborah asked jokingly.

all kinds of life walked the halls of this monstrosity they called a school, and they came it all shapes and sizes-- oddities they were. they were also considered possible menaces to society. which was a rather hilarious gesture to casey. her emerald eyes glanced at these 'menaces', yes because those with actual issues-- and those that could disrupt the status quo were just horrible offenders. the girl rolled her eyes at her own thoughts, that was the problem with her. she often found herself overthinking the subtle things no one would really notice. yawning, she pulled out her phone and began to play super mario world.. that's when she saw the girl she classified as her "best friend" if you could even have those in hawthorne academy.
it seemed everyone could tell casey from the neon that was her hair. it was odd really, sometimes she wondered why people were shocked when she said loud, rather crass things. really, wasn't the hair a warning label? anyone who didn't take it was just silly, really. as deborah began to talk, casey listened intently-- her eyes meeting the other pale girl's. it was a habit she had picked up as a child. you always look the person in the eye when you talk to them, if they don't look you back in the eye-- you know they're hiding something.
"this whole school is boring," casey spoke with a laugh before shrugging, "the only thing interesting around here is watching two dumb gold diggers bitching about their 'man', as if they actually think he gives a true damn about them," casey spoke with a laugh before tilting her head. "i have german, you really need to transfer to my photography class. i'm stuck with druggies, i need some sanity." no, casey hadn't meant for it to come out like that, but--- Hey, that's life.

was it sad to say that since she had been sent here, which was when she had first become a freshmen at her old school, she freaked. sure it was tough to hide, hide the feeling of disgust every time a guy accidentally touched her. she would freeze, stand still, she wouldn't move until someone snapped her out of her trance. of course as the year progressed, slowly, people started to notice it a bit more. people would of started out with the rumors that she was a lesbian, if she wasn't already going out with a girl. they saw it as something that messed her up, well besides the fact that she wasn't into guys. but she could care less what others thought.
though it wasn't till that day she was cornered. she felt someone bump into her, of course she learned never to look. shaking her dry locks as if to push those disturbing thoughts away she came back to reality. though she would kill to be anywhere else. as soon as she had reached her, casey locked eyes with her. with anyone else, debbie would of felt strange, but it was just something that she learned to do when she was around casey, not to look away. she shrugged slighty."you have a good point there."
she laughed and shook her head at what her friend said."you know that's very said if that's all you wake up to see, what if one of those gold diggers, i don't know got a brain. what am i taking about, that's impossible."she said laughing at her own little joke. deb nodded when casey said switching there photography classes."yeah, i would but i don't know, i like my class. there not alot of annoying guys in there. but maybe if im the only that keeps your from going insane i just might switch."she said with a grin.

casey knew from experience that you had to fight your way through places like this in order to come out the other side relatively unscathed. unfortunately, this is not what many people in this place knew, and probably what was left of most of her humanity-- decided she would stick up for those who lacked the strength in their voice to do so. she remembered the brunette had gotten bullied around casey, and nope-- the neon haired girl would not take kindly to that. staff or not, it didn't matter. you didn't kick someone when they were all ready down. it was just about respect and decency.
"of course i am," casey spoke with a cocky smirk before laughing softly. as deborah began to talk, the petite girl giggled. "if one of them got a brain, i don't think they would know what to do with it." casey rolled her eyes as it was flipped to fuse. music was better than nothing. photography was something casey loved very much when she wasn't working on music, and the two often modeled for each other. "you should! besides, last thing i need is to be getting hit on by a meathead drug addict. believe me-- they are not pretty," she spoke before shuddering.
"so are you skipping gym, changing, or going to chill out in the bleachers?" she inquired referring to their last class. casey was known for being the bleachers girl. so much so that the teacher called her the "patron saint of laziness"-- it wasn't that, she just didn't like a perverted teacher picturing her naked. it wasn't a good thing!

everyone knew, or at least they should by now. that casey was not a push over. she would be up in your face faster then you could blink. of course debbie never had a problem with her, it was more like casey was her savior. probably why casey would never get rid of her, debbie was just not that violent. she would take things with out a second thought. probably not the best way to deal with problems, but isn't that why she was here for. to get fixed.
she laughed again."probably, they would freak out and return it."debbie said with a roll of her eyes. she spotted a near by couch free of people and motioned of casey to follow her. debbie sat down, despite being an old couch, it was rather comfy and she felt like she could fall asleep. she really needed her fix of caffeine or she would not survive the day. she would have to return to her dorm and get some money. at least that's what his father was good for, trying to suck up to her with his dirty money."okay okay i will, i shall go talk to who ever i need to go talk to to change it today. no meathead is gonna even look at you. and i can only imagine."she said with a soft giggle.
she laughs softly and nods at her question."yeah im gonna skip, i hate that class, i mean im a hazard to myself and everyone around me. you know how much of a clutz i am. last week, i gave myself a bloody nose."she said with a frown."unless your gonna stay and be queen of the bleachers. you should come to town with me. there are a couple people sneaking out today, we should go."she said playfully.

it wasn't that casey was so much in everyone's face, was that she didn't tolerate people and their stupid, repetitive bullshit. it infuriated her-- it made her sick to her stomach. which may have been the reason she was so quick to speak up. she didn't mind standing up for the people getting picked on, and deborah's attachment to her-- never really phased her. she saw the brunette as a sister, someone she could trust with her whole heart. as the brunette spoke, a weak laugh passed through casey's soft lips as she nodded in agreement.
as they both sat on the rather old and ragged couch, casey couldn't help but note how comfortable it was. almost plush-like, despite it's bleak condition. as deborah continued talking, a small smiled stayed on the girl's soft-looking face. "thanks, i appreciate it, deb," her voice was slightly rough, but genuine. rough from her playing guitar all night, rough from her screaming when she was alone-- oh but the things people didn't know never hurt them. the insomniac never opened up completely, and that was the wisest decision she'd ever have made.
hearing the brunette's response to her question, the girl laughed softly. feeling bad for her clumsy friend, as she talked about giving herself a bloody nose-- casey looked on with confusion, her eyebrow cocked in a question-esque manner before she shook her head; it'd be better not knowing. a soft giggle came out as casey's nickname was used, and she truly contemplated her options. she could stay in a gym where the perverted teachers would be thinking of their students naked-- or have forced interaction. "um... sure. i'll go." she spoke with a nod, interaction with people other than her little group of friends would be good-- and needed.
