BUT IT AIN'T QUITE DEAD, IT JUST IS LIKE THIS
BUT IT AIN'T QUITE DEAD, IT JUST IS LIKE THIS
siblings: michael james, 14, deceased
other relatives: n/a
history: Everything was normal in her life, or well as normal as it could with with CIPA. Her parent's didn't find out she had it until 3, and by then they had her little brother to deal with as well. They got him tested, and luckily he came back negative. Or at least in their mind he was lucky.
She lived her life, as normal as she could. Not feeling pain, along with the inability to sense temperature changes screwed with the normal body system that everyone else had. Which included no sweating, which could potentially kill her.
Feeling no pain made her rather fearless. It didn't teach her that it was bad to do that, or hurt to do this, she just did it. If her food was too hot, oh well, she'd eat it anyways, she couldn't tell anyways. Her parents constantly were checking on her, along with any school she went to. Finally when she entered high school they thought that everything would get better.
But with a genetic disease, of course it didn't. She tried to fake pain, as well as she could without ever being able to feel it, and copied the motions of others. She went out with a few friends one night, and dragged her little brother along. They had been drinking, all but her brother of course, and they all got back into the car behind the wheel.
Driving while impaired, the driver got distracted by something, and ended up crashing head on into another car. Everyone in the other car was fine, although Michael, her younger brother, ended up in ICU for a while, until finally he died. Fatal wounds to the head, the doctors had told their family. Of course she had a few injuries, but she didn't feel them, so she didn't know how severe they were.
Lacerations and broken bones riddled her body. Her 'friend' the driver was being charged with vehicular manslaughter. They wanted Chloe to be a witness in the trial, but she couldn't remember anything of the night, and they believed it was from the concussion that she had received from the accident.
She was stuck sitting through the whole trial. Hearing the decision of incarcerating her friend, and in turn, leaving her with an empty heart in a sense. Her younger brother was close to her. She knew that her body was rather battered up because of all the bandages she had covering her body after she finally realized what had happened to her brother.
After a while she began taking it out on herself. Blaming herself for her brothers death. She began cutting herself, wishing that she could feel pain. She had cuts lining her arms, and some on her legs when her mom finally caught her. They brought her to a therapist at first, thinking it was just because of what happened to her brother, but when she refused to talk they believed that she would need more help.
So her parents and therapist looked for the 'best' school to send her to. Which ended up being Hawthorne.
