I'M BRUISED AND SCARRED save me from this broken heartALL MY LOVE WILL SLOWLY FADE & F A L L A P A R T• • • • • He wasn't sure what had brought him to the music room or why he even felt the urge to actually play the piano. But here he was, standing at the door and staring into the dark room and in the direction of the piano. He hadn't played in quite awhile... actually, it had been about a few long months now. He rubbed at his chin and reached over to the light switch, flipping it on. Blinking a couple of times, his soft hazel eyes adjusting to the light. It was later in the evening, about eight thirty or so, the sun having retired for the next few hours. Not to mention the fact that it was a Sunday night, which meant it was super quiet around the school. He never did quite understand that, how everything just seemed to go completely silent as soon as the sun went down. It didn't make sense to him coming from a town where the parties didn't start until after dark.
Moving toward the piano, he pulled the stool out and sat down, flipping the cover up and over the keys. His fingers skimmed over the shiny white keys, barely grazing the tips of the black ones. Popping his neck to loosen up, Connor pressed down on a few keys, matching some chords before pulling off a C major scale. It was one of the easiest, but it was definitely his favorite. He went over a few more scales, allowing the movements to become easier and come back to him. It wasn't until he a few moments afterwards that he figured he was good to start up on a song or two. He played a few more chords and then went right into it.
Connor sang along softly, humming the tune at first before finally figuring that no one would be coming along, and deciding to belt it out instead. "It kills me not to know this but I've all but just forgotten/ what the color of her eyes were and her scars or how she got them/ as the telling signs of age rain down a single tear is dropping through the valleys of an aging face that this world has forgotten/ there is no reconciliation that will put me in my place/ and there is no time like the present to drink these draining seconds/ but seldom do these words ring true when I'm constantly failing you/ like walls that we just can't break through until we disappear..."

Hope let out a sigh as she was laying on her bed. She hadn't really done anything at all in the last few days, and that just didn't fly with her. She sat up and looked around her dorm for a moment, her eyes looking down at the guitar that was in her room. Now, she could easily just play that instrument, but she preferred the piano. She pulled out her cellphone to check the time and bit her bottom lip. It wasn't too late, so she knew that she could get away with being in the music room. She ran to her dresser and pulled out some clothes. She quickly put them on and ran a brush through her curly hair before walking out of her dorm, yelling to her roommate that she'd be back later. Thankfully, she had a cool roommate and she didn't ask too many questions.
As she was walking towards her destination, her thoughts flew to what she could play on the piano. There were so many different things that she could play; things from the classics to songs she learned off of Youtube. Last time she had played the piano, was when she met Isaac and ever since then he's joke around with how boring the piece she played was. She was happy she met him that day, however, because he was actually one of the more decent people that she'd met here. That, and he knew how to cheer her up. It just sucked that Connor was his roommate, because now she never wanted to go over to see him. She shook her head of the thoughts and turned into the hallway that hid the music room. She walked quickly over to the door and pulled it open. She was about to walk in, but she stopped when she heard a familiar voice singing. Slowly, a smile came to her lips. So, there was a little bit of the brother she knew left in him. She peeked inside and looked over at him as he played, before slowly walking in.
Hope cautiously walked over towards her brother and bit down on her bottom lip. She didn't know what to expect from him seeing her. He hated her, it seemed. It broke her heart, but there wasn't anything that she could do about it. Unless he magically believed her about everything, she had a feeling this is just how their relationship was going to stay. As he finished singing, she offered him a warm smile before speaking, "That was really good," It was a very quiet tone that she spoke in, but then she slowly got louder in her speaking, "I've missed hearing you sing."

I'M BRUISED AND SCARRED save me from this broken heartALL MY LOVE WILL SLOWLY FADE & F A L L A P A R T• • • • • "So tell me now if this ain't love then how do we get out? Cause' I don't know. That's when she said I don't hate you boy, I just want to save you while there's still something left to save..-" Connor continued playing, pausing for a little piano solo. He wasn't completely oblivious when he was playing, but at the moment, having not been playing for awhile, he was actually startled to hear a voice come up from behind him. He immediately took his fingers off the keys and turned slightly. He hadn't expected to see Hope there, in fact, he had hoped that he wouldn't ever have to really run into her. He was confused in the way that he wanted to believe both his bestfriend and his sister. The only problem was, they were both giving him different stories, which really through his off.
It wasn't like he wanted to throw his sister to the curb, but when something so absurd is said, ie: your bestfriend raped me, it's a little hard to get your mind to wrap around that. He raised a brow at her slightly, chewing on his lower lip and rubbing at the back of his neck. She had missed his singing? He sorta missed it to, actually. Licking his lips, he scooted over to one side of the bench and patted the seat next to him. What he missed was playing the piano with her. Maybe they could put their differences aside and just play some good old classical stuff like they did when they were younger. "I've done better I guess... Remember playing Moonlight Sonata when were younger?"
Connor started it off slower on the lower end of the piano like he always did. It wasn't a super simple peice, but it was fun to play even though it was slow. And when they both started playing their parts, it all came together perfectly. A little too perfectly at times which normally would have made him chuckle at the thought. However, his mind was elsewhere, and therefore, he just continued looking at his fingers playing the bass part. His eyes glanced over at Hope, and he smiled ever so faintly, "It's been awhile since we've done this, hasn't it?"

Most people knew by now that the music room was how she forgot about most things, because she could just pour herself into her music. It was a better alternative than how she had been putting up with things, that was for sure. When she told her counselor what she had been doing, he just about jumped for joy. For a while now, she hadn't really been progressing at this school and it was kind of a let down for her and for her counselor. She drifted away from those thoughts and let her eyes glance around the room for a moment, before landing back on Connor. She was happy when he didn't say anything mean, she was so used to hearing insults come from his lips.
Hope crossed her arms over her chest as she waited for Connor to do something. Soon enough, he did by scooting over and patting the seat next to him. She looked at him with a gleam in her eye at the small gesture, a grin coming to her lips. She took the seat next to him, looking down at the black and white keys. She had missed this; playing the piano with her brother. Hell, she just missed her brother. She would have to watch two of her friends, who were brother and sister, and it just made her miss the old relationship that she had with him. She wanted him to be the overly-protectve, older brother that everyone else had, oddly enough. The fact that he was pushing everything aside at this moment was good enough for her, right now anyway. She took her gaze away from the keys and looked up at her brother as he spoke, before nodding her head, "How could I forget?"
She bit at her bottom lip again as he started playing the bass part of the song. Soon enough, she came in with her part. Well, this was certainly bringing back some old memories. She always thought back on how they used to play together, but she never thought that she'd have the chance to do it again. The smile on her lips widened as she played and nodded her head at him as he spoke, her light brown eyes glancing over to look at Connor, "A long while.. Too long for me," she said, before looking back down at the keys. She didn't like to admit that she missed her brother, especially to Connor himself, and that kind of just gave it away. The smile faded slightly at that thought, but she tried to keep her focus on what she was playing.
