history: Anna never had the easiest childhood. Even when she was very little, she would see things that weren't there, only she had no idea that these things weren't real. She would hear voices and they would scare her and bully her. She told her parents but she was too young to fully explain and they only assumed that their child was like any other, imagining monsters under her bed but to Anna they were very very real and felt like so much more than her imagination acting up.
When Anna was little she would have imaginary friends but her parents thought nothing of it. She was just a child, playing her little imaginary games but as she got a little older it got worse. One afternoon, her father found her yelling at something by the stairs but there was nothing there. When he asked her who she was talking to, Anna started to cry only saying that 'they' were mean to her. She was only about seven years old.
Her parents were worried and took her to get help which left her with the diagnosis of childhood schizophrenia. It wasn't all that common in children but Anna's grandmother had schizophrenia so it was already in her family.
When she was ten, things were hard. She was getting help but it was still getting in the way of her studies and being in school got her into more trouble than it was worth. Her father was teaching history but her parents decided to pull her out of school and let her be home schooled. Her mother taught her during the week and her father would help in the evenings and on weekends.
It was hard to deal with the situation but they did the best they could. When Anna was 12, her mother was diagnosed with an aggressive form of lung cancer. No one in her family even smoked and they were about as healthy as they could be, taking walks, eating right. It wasn't fair but when she was 13 her mother died. It was hard enough keeping up with trying to work full time and support his daughter and a sick wife but Anna's school became an issue too. They simply didn't have the time or money so when her father heard about Hawthorne, he applied for a job and transferred Anna there so that he could still keep an eye on her while she was at a school that would understand her condition and help her.
