May just raised an eyebrow at him for a moment before shrugging and eating another chip. At the moment, she wasn’t really all that hungry anymore. She did like the nacho’s and they were really good but she had only said she wanted nacho’s so that she could spend some more time with him. But even so, she would eat a little. It wasn’t like May was in risk of being fat or something. Actually, the girl could probably go to gain a few pounds. She had been mistaken for an eating disorder, but she was the farthest from having one. May was just naturally petite.
A laugh came through her lips as he complimented her. Shaking her head lightly, she reached into her bag and took out a water bottle. What they forgot was something to drink with these and although they were so good, the cheese was thick and it made her thirsty. Now, obviously by now it’s apparent that May isn’t your average girl. And with every second that passed by, she felt like she further pressing the fact. This time, she chugged an entire water bottle and bringing back from her lips, took in a deep breath before looking at him.
She busted out laughing as she put the cap back on the empty bottle and back into her bag. “Sorry, I couldn’t help it” She said after a moment and put another chip into her mouth. Guys should know by now, when a girl has something in her mouth to not ask questions out of the blue. And certainly not questions that were no where related to the thing they were currently talking about. So when he asked if she had a boyfriend, May swallowed her chip to quickly and chocked on it.
She started to cough, and was still kinda laughing at her gasp of air. And now, she was kinda laughing because of his question. It wasn’t a stupid question, and neither was it funny. She was more laughing because it was so awkward to be asked that. Of course she didn’t have a boyfriend, and if she did she wouldn’t have been with him for this long. And neither would she have been playing with his hand…
After a moment of calming herself and catching her breath May looked over to him and watched him for a second. “I don’t, but can I ask why you want to know?”

Merrick just grinned when she laugh. It was kind of funny and he could see that. He probably could have gone about it in a better way but he wasn't the type to think things through so thoroughly. Perhaps when he got a little older he might be more responsible and organised like his dad but for now it was all about having fun and May was the sort of girl he thought he could just have fun with.
"No, it's cool. I kinda expected a reaction like that anyway," he said with a smile. He could laugh at himself too and he knew it was silly to just come out and ask something like that out of no where.
"Are you alright?" Merrick asked with a hand on her should, looking very worried and concerned and at a loss as to what to do about it. Was she choking? She was laughing too? It was just weird but she seemed alright. Merrick just stared for a moment waiting for her to calm down a bit before she spoke.
"Because I don't wanna get beat u by some big scary dude with anger issues?," he said, half in jest. "I mean, that is your type right?" he joked. Big, scary and angry was the last thing Merrick was and he knew that probably wasn't what she was interested in, at least not right now. After all, they seemed to be getting along great. A second later e heard a familiar ring tone, "Hang on," he said, pulling out his phone from his pocket and checking the message before laughing a little and sending one back. It was something he knew well and cared about which was obvious in his face when he send the message. [[Oooo what will May say lol, She can ask about it btw]]

She raised an eyebrow at his comment about her type. May didn't have a type, she liked what she liked and the fact that he had just assumed something like that kinda upset her. Is that what he thought about her? That she was just sitting there, and judging him. Comparing him? And she would never let anyone beat him up. That thought was more insulting then his other comment. May didn't say anything to that comment, because she didn't have anything to say. And with the way her mind was starting to wonder, she knew it was starting to run away from her and so she picked up another nacho, trying to focus.
Thats how it happened. Someone would do something, or say something that hurt her feelings and instead of dealing with it herself she would just..dissapear. But she didn't want to leave just yet, and she looked back over at him for a second before looking away again. What a fuckin' mood ruiner..seriously.
Just then she heard a phone going off and as he told her to hold on he laughed a bit at whatever was on his phone. May laughed a little, but it was more of 'are you serious?' laugh as she folded her arms and let her back rest against the wall again. She looked up, not wanting to look at him at that moment. When he was finished she bit her lip for a moment and then shook her head.
He just went from being sweet, to being a bit of a jerk. She cleared her throat for a moment, trying to hint to him that she was still there. "Who was that?" She asked, in a bit of monotone voice. If anything, it should be apparent that she was upset.
[[haha, alright!]]

[[but he was kidding about her type lol]] "I'm kidding by the way," he said when she didn't seem to laugh or even smile at the comment. He wasn't being at all but when it didn't seem to be taken that way he figured it was better to be safe than sorry and just clarify on that one little comment. He didn't want to upset her and with the way she was looking away it looked like that comment had been taken the wrong way and that was the thing he wanted. Merrick just bit his lip and watched her, hoping she'd be alright with that. He said a few stupid things some times but he was hardly ever serious and sometimes things were just taken the wrong way but it was always best to sort it out before it got out of hand or anything. Putting his phone away he just smiled back at her. Always with the interruptions, though if he were older and happened to have an actual job, the interruptions would no doubt increase. In fact, his dad was always on his phone. There was always some big drama he needed to sort out. He never worked so much as said yes or no to things. He owned a few places and left the running of it to whoever was in charge but they still needed his approval for a number of things. "Ahh sorry, it was just a friend," he told her. Sterling was the girl he partied with, shared his alcohol with but stayed strictly platonic with. "She's kinda like the little sister I never had and she's kinda crazy," he told May with a smile as he handed over his phone to let her see the message. Merrick wasn't the type to hide very much, he had no secrets and had no need to keep any. The message from the girl read, 'eggs and jello shots do not qualify as breakfast' and his reply underneath said 'it was bacon and jello shots! dont knock it till you try it lady'. They were both alcoholics and had that in common so it was sort of a friendship based on common interest. "Sorry, no more phone now, I promise," he said, putting the phone on silent. She didn't seem to be in too good a mood but Merrick was determined to fix that. She would get to have his undivided attention now and hopefully things would go just a little bit better.

May looked at him when he said he was kidding, but she didn't change her mind about the subject. It was what it was, and she couldn't change that, and so she just shook her head lightly for a moment before he started to explain who it was. She listened, interested for a few reasons. First, May had no idea of this kid had a girlfriend or something back home. And as she thought about it, he could. He was good looking, and apparently had some money. So it was absolutely possible. And second, because she wanted to know more about him and when he started to talk she couldn't help but listen.
He was perfectly allowed to have friends, and text who ever it was that he wanted. but May didn't like that they were together and he was on his phone. It was just rude, and May wouldn't take her attention from him to answer a text unless it was important. But then again, she didn't have anything important in her life. Not really, not this he came around.
he went to hand her his phone, and May shook her hand at it. "I'm not going to go through your phone Merrick. I'm not your girlfriend, or your mother. and even if I was your girlfriend, I wouldn't disrespect your privacy like that." She said gently, resting her cheek on her knees. "I was only curious who it was is all" She said with a soft smile.
"I mean.. you probably have tons of girls texting you all the time. I can't compete with those city types. I'm just...average" She shrugged, and put another chip in her mouth. May was use to it, and it didn't hurt her feelings at all. She wasn't girlie, and didn't really like shopping. Things like this were what made her happy. Conversation and spending time with someone that was interesting. She didn't need fancy things, or cute clothes. May hated make-up and stupid shoes. she would rather play xbox and have a good time then go out and get drunk.
"You don't have to explain yourself to me.." She said looking at him for a moment before turning her eyes back to the sky

Merrick was too used to having everything at his fingertips. He was practically attached to his phone. He had everything on it. Everything he needed was right there in his hands and he was just so used to that sometimes that he would forget to take a break from it. Maybe it came from watching his dad was he was about four years old and seeing the man always on his phone and always busy with one thing or another. He looked up to him a lot and couldn't help but want to be like him in a way.
Merrick just shrugged and took the phone back. "Either way I don't like keeping secrets," he told her. "There'd be too much to keep track of," he joked. He was a pretty open book when it came down to it and yes, he did like to have his privacy from time to time but usually he didn't need to hide anything, he never really had a reason to.
Merrick just stared at her, the green in his eyes more obvious now with the darkened sky and dim lighting. He did have girls texting him but now that he was out of the social network of Las Vegas he wasn't in such high demand any more. He couldn't do much from all the way over here and the girls knew that so they stopped texting him because they couldn't simply ask where he'd be and hope for an invite to the VIP section. It just wasn't happening any more.
"I did," he told her when she said that he probably had tons of girls texting him. "And no, you can't compete with them," he told her. "Because you are in a whole other league. You're way better than those girls," he told her, meaning every word he said. "You're real, you know how much is real with girls like that? Almost nothing," he told her. "They always want something and there's always motives and ulterior motives and nothing ever means anything," he told her, confiding in her, giving her an insight that he hadn't really shared with anyone yet.
Merrick was sick of it. He loved the parties, he loved having a good time and having lots of beautiful women around was nice but sometimes in the best clubs, at a table full of beautiful women, he would stop for a moment and feel extremely alone. In fact, this was about the best time he had had in a long time. It was right up there with the time his mother, his real mother not the new shiny, younger version of her, took him to Toys R Us to pick out a few birthday presents when he was eight and he spent all day playing with pretty much everything in sight.
"Ya know," he began when she said that he didn't have to explain himself to her. "Maybe I want to," he told her. "Maybe I want someone I can talk to and tell things to and just be me and not have to worry about what they think or what they want," he told her honestly. You just didn't get that from the sort of girls he used to spend his time with. they might listen but only to get closer to him, they never really cared.
