Anna sat on the ground beside the fountain. Her dress pooling around her legs as she pulled them close. She had her dolls with her. She knew she was getting just a little too old to play with dolls but they calmed the voices and distracted her so she wouldn't hear them as much.
Today she had two dolls. Ethel and Rose. They were porcelain dolls but not very big ones. Anna loves porcelain dolls so much more than the plastic ones you'd get these day. No, those new dolls were for her, not with their short skirts and horridly pointy toes.. No, mommy would not approve.. but mommy was gone and it made her sad. Pulling out the necklace from inside her dress, she opened it and looked at the picture and smile.
Mommy wasn't gone, she was still there, somewhere, watching her. With a sigh, she closed locket and put it away. Everything was fine today, today was a very fine day indeed. Picking up Rose, Anna brushed her hair back and sat her up against the fountain. Her dolls would keep her distracted for now and everything would be okay, though Anna knew she should probably find something else, something more for teenagers.. She tried music but it just wasn't the same. The voices had no problems with interrupting music, always screaming to get through and be heard.. It was very, very rude of them but they wouldn't interrupt her now.
Picking Ethel up, Anna sat the doll down in her lap, brushing her hair just a little, the same way she had for Rose. Ethel and Rose were good friends but all of Anna's friends were left behind. They were all so far away now but this was better, wasn't it? Daddy said it was so it must be. He would never try to trick or deceive her, he loved her and this was what was best. Right now, Anna was about as lucid as she could be. She could make sense of her thoughts and order them a little and she could even be understood. The medication didn't always work so well and sometimes she just didn't like to take them but right now it seemed they were doing their job.

Cass was in a genuinley good mood this day, maybe it was her trains. She decided to play with them and her mood flew through the ceiling. Which was a very good thing, cause for a couple days now, she hadn't been the most happiest person. Of course it seemed like that to other people, but she was still having issues. Inward issues of course. One's no one knew anything about. Nope, no one at all. Like her eating disorder, or her suicide attempts. So she actually felt well enough to leave her room, so she did and she was happy that it wasn't as cold.
Though it was odd, she still wasn't used to the feeling of warmth that she got from being in Maine. It was different then the always cold Alaska. Though she had gotten used to that, since she did live there since she was a baby. But now, it was odd being kind of warm in the middle of Feburary. So she walked outside in just Jeans and a random T-shirt that she threw on and walked around.
Finally she made it to the courtyard, which she hadn't been planning on going to. But when she saw Anna and dolls she was excited. Dolls where another thing that she liked, along with her trains and many other childesh things. So she hurried over to her and sat down in front of her and smiled brightly. "Hi," she said looking at the dolls. "You like dolls?"

Anna glanced up when she heard someone approaching her. She watched as the girl sat down and stayed quiet for a moment. Anna had been told countless times that Sigrid and Tom weren't real. Turning, Anna looked over the fountain and around, there was no one else there except the old man who would stand far, far away and watch her.
She knew he wasn't real either, they told her this so many times. They were like regular people to her so she never really believed what was said about them but the medication often made her think a little more clearly, when she did take them at least. She didn't always like to though and right now, she wondered if this was was here. Maybe if she ignored her she would go away? No, she spoke. Maybe she was here.
Anna looked back at the girl, taking a deep breath before speaking. "Hello," she said, her coat was still on, over the very girly white dress with its frills and soft material. The girl didn't have a coat. "Aren't you cold?" Anna asked, looking up at her with her head tilted. "Oh yes," she said, looking back at her dolls when the girl asked about them. "They never speak out turn. They know not to," she told her, brushing Ethel's hair some more.

Cass just tilted her head slightly and thought about the weird things she herself did. Like making snow angels, dancing in the rain, playing with toy trains, cloud gazing, watching sunsets, watching sunrises, staring at rainbows. All of those things that people thought were strange, so this girl and her dolls made her wonder if she'd meet someone else who liked playing with toys. Or hell doing one of those other things she likes to do.
So she had her hopes set high and when the girl said Hello, she just smiled. "I'm Cass," she said, realizing she didn't introduce herself when she first got there. Which was something that happened when she was excited about something. And the dolls had overexcited the easily excited girl.
Though the girls next words made her tilt her head slightly, as she tried to make something out of it. She didn't get it entirely, but she didn't want to feel like an idiot so she nodded. "Yeah I guess." She looked up at the sky and watched a few clouds drift by before looking back. "I like playing with trains and dolls and other toys," she admitted with a bright smile. Yeah hopefully this girl didn't find that strange. Like most people.

Anna watched the girl a little longer. She was new to her so she had to be careful, but the girl seemed nice. She asked about her dolls. Maybe she liked them too. She did seem to be a little older than her and if she did like them, then maybe Anna really wasn't getting too old for them. That would be nice.
"I'm Anna," she told her, before looking back down at Ethel and sitting her next to Rose. They never spoke out of turn, they were good dolls and if they did then they would learn quickly not to do it again. They were good dolls, the kept the voices away.
Anna looked the girl over again. It was getting warmer and her coat wasn't all that thick but you wouldn't want to get struck but a bit of unsuspecting weather. That was why Anna always had her umbrella when she was out, just in case the clouds decided to turn gray and wet.
Picking up the scarf that sat beside her, Anna held it out to the girl. "You mustn't let the cold get to you, we're not seals or polar bears you know," she told her. "Have you been to the zoo lately?" she asked, looking back up at the girl. It was a bit of a jump between thoughts but for Anna this was actually as ordered as one might expect. She could be a little more coherent but this was definitely bordering on good for the girl.
"I like that too, and making snow angels," she told her, looking up in thought as she held her brush "Sometimes the clouds tell me stories," he told her. "Do you know many stories?" she asked, looking back down at the girl. "Careless critters tell tall tales, you mustn't trust them unless they tell you to," he said, looking back at her dolls and picking Rose up and holding it up to her ear. "She wants to say hello," she told Cass, holding the doll out to her.

Cass was pretty content, sitting her with this girl and the dolls. It wasn't anything unusual, but it felt nice, to actually be getting along with someone. So she pulled her feet up under her and nodded, "Its nice to meet you Anna." She smiled brightly and looked back up at the sky. "Do your dolls have names?" She was honestly curious, she used to name her dolls all the time back home. Though she didn't bring them with her, no just her trains.
The weather never bothered Cass, cause she liked the cold, and rain was always fun. Then the only other weather was hot and sunny, and that wasn't bad either. So she never had to carry anything extra with her. It kept her hands free to do as the please, instead of holding on to some useless item.
Cass didn't want to be rude so she grabbed the scarf and wrapped it around her neck. "The cold doesn't really get to me," she said with a smile. "I'm from Alaska. Its colder up there," she said with a soft laugh. "But thanks for the scarf," she ran a hand through her hair and played with the fringe of her shirt as she stared up at the sky.
She shook her head, "Nope. I havn't been to the zoo in awhile." She did like the zoo though, all the animals being animal like. Though then again she hated the zoo cause she didn't like the animals being all locked up in a small cage and stuff. It made her feel like she had to do something to help the poor creatrues.
Now Anna's next words made her smile brighten, "Oh Holy Mary and Joseph." She laughed, "I love making snow angels." She was now happy to find someone who liked to do snow angels, "And I have a train set. You should come play with them one day."
She had invited many people to play trains with her, and she was happy to invite Anna too. She tilted her head slightly, "Yeah I the clouds do that." She smiled and shook her head, "Nope. I don't know any stores. Well I know fairy tales like Cinderella." She liked this random girl, she was nice, and she seemed fun enough. "Oh well I'll make sure not to listen then," she said softly.
When the girl offered her the doll she took it and smiled. She ran her hand through the dolls hair, "Hello." Then she looked at the girl with a very bright smile. "I like you."

"Yes, nice to meet you to.. Cass," Anna said, looking back at her dolls. If this girl turned out to not be girl, Anna didn't want to look her in the eyes too much or she would be able to see into her soul. At least that was what she though. Sigrid always seemed to know too much at least.
"Yes," she told her, her dolls were dressed with Victorian style dresses, both very similar with their hair in curls. "This is Rose," she said, pointing to the red-haired doll, "And this is Ethel," she said, pointing to the doll with jet-black hair.
"Alaska. Alaska. 3 million lakes," she said. It was true though. Alaska was a very big place with well, lots of lakes and other things. The facts stuck out to Anna, especially historical facts. Her dad was a history teacher after all, it was bound to happen.
Anna smiled when she said said that. "I like trains," she said. "I think I will," she told her. She could go play with her trains, that would be fun. Anna liked games and although it might seem childish for some, she always enjoyed it.
"I know a lot of stories," she told her. Anna had a lot of books, all bed time stories and fairy tales with happen endings. She nodded when Cass agreed not to listen. Yes, good. That would be good.
Anna smiled back at the girl. "I like you too and so do Ethel and Rose," she told her. Cass was nice and it was definitely good to have a friend. Especially since Anna was so new to this place and didn't really know anyone.

Sometimes I give myself the creepsSometimes my mind plays tricks on me Cass smiled brightly at Anna and nodded happily. She watched the girls eyes fall and frowned slightly. She thought she did something wrong, and she didn’t really like feeling that way. She was always trying to be good and do things the right way, never doing anything to harm someone or their feelings. Which was why she was constantly happy, usually people couldn’t be made at her when she was happy. Though some people hated it, she just stayed away from those people. As much as possible.
She smiled at the two dolls, and glad she had names to put to the faces. She didn’t like nameless creatures, it felt weird. So whenever she passed by a flower or a tree. Hell he train had a name, Eddy. Eddy the train. Yup, yeah strange, but that was Cass for you. “Well it is nice to meet Ethel and Rose too,” she said happily. It was true, it was always nice to meet people, even dolly people.
Of course Cass already knew that, for living there she had to know. They learned it in Geography. A lot of lakes for her lovely state. “Yup Home of the tons of lakes.”
That made Cass happy, she liked knowing that people wouldn’t mind spending time with her. Or Eddy. He was like her life, and she wouldn’t be able to handle anything without Eddy. “Cool. Eddy is fun to play with,” she said happily. “And just tell me when and I’ll have everything ready, with snacks and all.” Not that she planed to actually eat the snacks there.
Cass smiled, “Really. Could you tell me a few?” She had never been the one to remember stories she heard, except the ones over and over again. Like fairy tales. As a kid, when her mom seemed to actually care about her, she was always read a book at bed time. Always the same few stores and she always remembered them. Even now.
Now that Anna told her that she liked her, her whole world was placed back where it belonged. She liked the girl and she wanted her to like her back. “Yeah I like Ethel and Rose. They are nice,” she said truthfully. She was happy to play along like the dolls were people. Because sometimes it always seemed to be like that they were people, or that’s how it seemed sometimes. Anna just smiled. The girl seemed nice. She was playing along with the dolls and all, that was awfully nice of her and Anna appreciated the effort. What a nice girl, she thought. She was definitely looking forward to playing with trains with her now and there would be snacks too, that would be nice.
"Eddy is your train?" Anna asked, though it was more of a statement than a question. She was only confirming what she already knew now. "Trains, planes and buses. I like all three," she said. "Three little piggys but their house blew down.. Except the last one, he knew better. Your house is in Alaska.. I don't know where mine is now," she told her girl.
She had moved here and she knew that her dad had sold the house. They were living here now but was it better? Probably. There were too many bad memories there, but more of them were good. Her mother used to live there and it used to be nice until things were sad and then it was always so quiet.. Always so very quiet.
Anna nodded, she knew many stories, she read a lot and she could tell her a few. "Nature did not have a plan when it created the pear head man. He had one friend who was made of bread but the birdied ate him and now he's dead," she told her, eyes still averted and staring at her dolls before looking back up at Cass.
"It was silly of him to be made of bread," she told her with a slight smile. It was a funny story. It would have been sad if these were real people but they weren't. They were just funny little food people in stories, they weren't really real. Anna knew they weren't real.
Glancing over, Anna frowned, staring at what seemed to be nothing. She saw something though but she didn't say a word. People didn't like it when she talked about it. Chewing lightly on her lower lip she turned away again.

Sometimes I give myself the creepsSometimes my mind plays tricks on me So far Cass was a pretty happy little girl, and she thought Anna was nice and she was pretty and very sweet. She was looking forward to having her over to her dorm and playing trains. She was always happy when someone else wanted to play trains with her. But she was especial happy right now.
"Yeah Eddy is my train," she said softly and felt a blush rise up her cheeks. God she was an idiot and she knew that, and it sucked. How could she be such a fucking moron. "I like flying and buses are fun. Though the people on the buses never seem to like me," she said with a shrug and a tilt of her head. "Trains though are fun and cool and amazing," she said with a slight giggle. "Yeah those poor little piggy's. Yeah but I don't think I want to go back to my house in Alaska," she said truthfully. She wasn't sure she wanted to be surrounded by people who thought she was crazy, or people who just didn't like her. Or her mom and her husband of the month.
Cass listened to the story and couldn't help give a soft laugh, "That is a very nice story. Poor bread man and poor pear man his only friend is gone." She sighed softly, "I would hate to have my only friend eaten by a birdie." She shrugged and looked up at the sky, the clouds were still roaming the sky and they were so fluffy. "Clouds are fluffy," she said with a laugh. Okay it was random and all, but Cass liked being random.
She followed Anna's stare and when she saw nothing she turned away and just let Anna stare and waited for her to look back this way before speaking. "So Anna. Why don't you know where your home is," she asked curiously, though she felt bad the moment she let the words leave her pretty little lips. She didn't like being questioning, and rude. It all keeps adding upI think I'm cracking up tags;annanotes;it kind of suckswords;three;four;fouroutfit;heremusic;basket case;greenday
