Nate walked down the trail but some where along the way he must have taken a wrong turn because he was sure that he had been down this way before, not that he had been in the woods a lot but it was a nice place to come to. It was out of the way and secluded and that was really all Nate needed from a place. With his guitar and his notebook, he could be out here for hours and not get bored. Though this wasn't anything new for Nathaniel. He could go just about anywhere and sit around doing nothing and be perfectly fine. He was used to it, he had enough practice doing it. Climbing up onto a low branch, Nate left his guitar and notebook full of bits and pieces of songs he had written, on the ground. Leaning his back against the tree, Nate had his legs hanging off either side. Deciding to just relax for a while before trying to write anything, Nate decided to sing a song or two. He didn't need his guitar for it, just looking up at the sky, he sang the first thing that came to mind. Bleedin' Love by Leona Lewis. With a hand on his leg, tapping the beat, he sang the song, not paying much attention to what was around him. [[his singing right here: here ]]

Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuckity, fuck! Nicky hated being lost. It was one to enjoy knowing exactly where he was or how to get back to where he was used to. He just wanted to get to know the place that would be his home town for the next two years. And naturally, he gets lost like a kid in a candy shop. Only difference was, he wasn't happy about this. The only things he had on him was his blue hooded sweatshirt, a pack of cigarettes, his skateboard, and a cellphone with numbers only from New York. Which were no use at this point.
So instead, he had decided to just continue wondering around and hope that he found someone that knew where in the hell he was at. Or at least offer directions toward the road. Someone had to be nice enough, right? Unlike in New York, this was a small town, with nice and friendly folks. At least, that was what he was hoping for. But until then, he would meander and take in the scenery. Which wasn't all that bad. It was more natural out here, not as man made looking as Madison Square Gardens.
Nicky kicked at fallen branches and continued to look around himself. He wasn't extremely perceptive to the things around him, but at this time, he was actually on a rather high alert. His ears had picked up a bit of singing and this both had his heart jumping with excitement as well as nervousness. He still didn't know many people, if any at all. Not that he had a major problem with strangers or anything. Nicky narrowed his brow slightly, pulling out a cigarette and lighting it before moving toward the singing. Who ever it was, they were damn good.
Nicky peered behind a tree and saw a cute blonde kid sitting and singing. And singing a damn good song at that. Moving around the tree, he sat his board down and sat on it like a chair. "Leona Lewis has one killer voice, and you could give her a run for her money, gorgeous." Nicky offered him a sweet and genuine smile before holding his hand out toward him. "I'm Nicky."

Nate was near the end the end of the song when he heard a voice coming from not too far away. In fact the speaker had to be somewhere near the tree he was in and Nate couldn't help the immediate reaction to knowing someone was there that he hadn't expected.
His feet immediately moved up the branch to keep a distance from whoever it was and this in turn caused him to very nearly fall off the branch but Nate managed to catch himself in time but decide to get down from the tree anyway, landing feet first and taking a few steps back as he eyed the stranger as though he might be dangerous.
It took a moment for the words to register before Nate responded. "Um.. thanks.. I'm.. I'm Nate," he told him, hands in his pocket as he kept a nice distance between them as he bit his lower lip, eyes focusing on the ground in front of him. He didn't want to get too close especially considering he didn't know this guy and did he refer to him as 'gorgeous'?
Nate wasn't bad looking but he wasn't so used to compliments either, the slightest tinge of pink was apparent on his cheeks but it was hard to tell if it was from the compliment or nearly falling off a tree. Either way, his heart was beating a little faster and he wondered if that fight or flight response would kick in, though for Nate fight wasn't really an option.

Nicky cocked his head to the side and narrowed his brow slightly. The guy seemed scared as all hell, which he couldn't blame him for. Nicky did sneak up on him after all. So how he was being treated was definitely rightfully diserved. He stood up and brushed himself off, holding his hands up, palms forward. "I'm not gonna hurt you, or anything. I promise. I just got lost and was looking for someone who knew a way out. I heard you singing and decided to check it out. I didn't mean to you scare you." His voice was very sincere, his soft smile genuine as he looked him.
He put his hands down, placing one in his pocket and letting the other hang at his side with his cigarette between his pointer and middle finger. He shrugged his shoulders lightly as another slight apology of sorts. Looking up at him, he spoke up again, "It's nice to meet ya, Nate. Do, uh, do you go to Hawthorne too?" And damn did he hope the answer would be yes. He wouldn't mind getting to know the boy and having a friend. Perhaps more if he swung that way. However, the poor guy looked afraid of his own shadow... So it looked as though friends would have to do for a destination at the moment.

"I.. I know that," Nate told him, like it was totally insane to think that the guy was going to hurt him. He knew it was, he knew his whole phobia was just crazy and made no sense at all but he couldn't help but feel afraid of it anyway. It was scary and horrible even when someone did nothing more than put a hand on his shoulder. Nate would either run or freeze and neither was a normal reaction.
"No.. It's.. It's fine," Nate said, bright blue eyes switching from the floor to the boy and back again. He needed to get over this and calm down but it was hard to do that with his heart racing the way it was.
"You're lost?" he asked, he hadn't seen him at Hawthorne before and the guy could just be visiting or something and want to head back into town. Either way Nate was too nice and polite to turn him away. If the guy just needed directions then he would give him that.
Nate nodded. So he did go to Hawthorne. Nate relaxed just slightly but he knew it could easily be a bad thing too. If the guy was there for doing something crazy then he was probably in trouble but he seemed okay. This Nicky guy had apologized so he couldn't have been that bad.
"Um.. I.. don't.. I'm not usually good at talking.. to people," Nate said, looking up as though he were trying to apologize for the fact that he was probably going about this all wrong. The guy had introduced them and he looked like a deer caught by a hunter. That wasn't how situations like these were suppose to be and he knew that. Though at least now he was looking up at him just as little more, though it was only in short intervals.

Nicky smiled and nodded. Nate was stuttering slightly, like he was most definitely caught off gaurd and that running into Nicky wasn't on his to do list. Licking his lower lip, Nicky took a drag from his cigarette, inhaling deeply and exhaling slowly. He watched as the smoke curled up toward the trees and sky. If there was one thing that he mildly enjoyed doing while he was rolling was watching the smoke billow out of his mouth. It was highly entertaining. And it felt like it went on for hours. Instant entertainment and it kept him from doing anything stupid, that was for sure. "You sure? I mean, I didn't mean to startle you or anything. Honest."
Nicky's dark chocolate eyes watched as Nate nodded his head slowly to his previous question. So he did go to Hawthorne! Boy was his day not turning out as bad as he thought it would be. Must be one of his lucky days. "Yeah, I got lost walking around here. Tried finding my way back and failed miserably. Any chance we could walk together back to Hawthrone then? If you feel up to, of course."
He grabbed for his skateboard, holding it under his free arm and taking another hit from his now dying cigarette. He dropped the butt and put it out completely with the toe of his Vans shoe. Looking up at Nate, he nodded his head and shrugged lightly, "It's not a problem. I'm used to talking... so that might help, right? Asking questions and the sort? You can tell me about Hawthorne and how you like it, yeah?" He knew how to get a conversation started. It was all just a matter of asking questions that resulted in an elaborated answer.

Nate watched him smoke his cigarette. It was a bad habit but he wasn't about to comment on that. He kept a lot to himself. Nate didn't like to offend people or upset them, it generally caused problems and it was better to simply deal with it instead of saying something and potentially having them react badly.
"Yeah it's.. fine," Nate said, staying at his position. He was still a little unsure about this guy. He seemed alright but you just never knew with people. Aleksei seemed alright his first day here but that lasted all of two minutes before the guy was shoving him back because apparently it was hilarious to watch him react to it.
"Um.. Yeah, sure," Nate said, looking back at his guitar and notebook. He had only just got here but he figured he could probably just walk the guy back then go off again if he wanted to. He spent a lot of time alone so this wasn't going to make too much of a difference to his day. It would just be a nice interlude.
"It's okay I guess," Nate said, moving around the guy to get his stuff, making sure to keep a good distance between them. The guy was attractive and he seemed friendly enough but that only made it worse. It was always worse when Nate actually liked someone.
He was good at short answers. Nate generally avoided socializing. If he was online it would be easier but in person, the anxiety, nervousness and fear tended to get in the way of a good conversation. Taking a deep breath to calm himself, Nate kept his eyes focused forward as he walked back out, leading Nicky back toward the school. It wasn't easy but questions helped. It gave him something to do.
