Summer didn't ever see herself married, because she saw what marraiges could do to two people that truely did care about eachother, but they had their problems or when one of them passed on or moved on. She knew how that situatin could go, and she did not think that she could handle that kind of heartbreak! She was sure it would kill her and well the drugs were already killing her so she didn't need anything more adding to it. She was cool with not wanting to be involved with someone that way. Even if shehad kids.
"Well, its a noble decision when you are actually doing it to better a person...so don't b too hard on yourself" she said with a smile, because the things you heard about this place well it could be kind of scary. There was more temptations and the peer pressure skyrocketed here. He was here teachin so he was seeing it first hand. "But as long as she likes it then thats good."[/b she said smiling.
When he asked her about the school itself she bit her lip. She hated this school, because her parents just sent her away because they didn't want to deal with her, but at the same time it felt more like home then anything else. "This school has its ups and its downs I mean its like a home to me more so then being back home, but I didn't have much of a choice coming here, so I kind of have to make the best of it." she said with a small shrug.
This school made you grow up faster though and you had to make tough choices. People here were a lot tougher then a normal school. There were a lot of issues and it was tough to kind of find your place or you had to choose that you just didn't give a flying fuck. She didn't here what Anna was here for and she wasn't going to pry but she wasn't going to lie to him. 'It is a tough place to be, but I'm sure with you here she'll be fine." she encouraged.

Scott had done a lot of thinking about it. It wasn't ideal, but it was the best he could managed without relying too much on anyone else. He only planned to be here until Anna finished her senior year then he wouldn't have to worry about her graduating and they could just go back to Canada and find her a job she could manage, keep her on her meds and then many the girl would grow up and find a way to live her own life without having to rely too heavily on him.
He knew he wouldn't be around forever. Things could happen. Isabelle got cancer and something could happen to him as well and Anna would only have her grandparents. They were great of course but they wouldn't understand and he only wanted the best for her. He wanted her to be able to be independent.
"It's the best we could do," he admitted. So yes, it was the only decision he could really make in regards to the girl. It was this or have her locked away in some padded cell some where and visit every now and then. No, Scott would never dream of doing that to Anna. She deserved so much more and that was exactly what she was going to get.
"Kids rarely do have a choice," he told her. "Most parents try to do what's best and forget you're old enough to decide on your own or at least have an opinion," he said, managing to see things from both sides. He wouldn't forget that though. He was making his own life changing decisions at 18 so he was never going to underestimate someone Summer's age or even Anna's. In fact, he had shown Anna pictures of the place before coming here and she seemed alright with it.
This was why he was talking to her like an adult instead of being condescending and treating her like a small child. That was a mistake that Scott would never make, only because he knew what they were capable of. If he could plan out his whole life and future and goals when he was just finishing high school then they probably could too. That's if you give them a chance.
"It's this or have her locked away in some institution in the middle of no where," Scott told her. Her options were pretty limited, she had to be on medication all her life just so others could make sense of her. It wasn't fair but a hospital like that was really the only place where she could be given her medication and have doctors keep track of her but it wasn't right. "I couldn't do that to her," he told Summer. He really loved his daughter and it was apparently in the way he talked about her. At least this way he got to see her and he would never be too far away if she ever needed him.

Summer was turning eighteen next year well soon enought actually in the upcoming year. She planned to finish it out here, because well she had been here this whole time and well what high school would want her after coming to this place? That was something her parents did not think about if it came down to her wanting to get the hell out of here. They liked Summer, because she was their only kid, but buying her shit was not right. They just bought her stuff to make her know they were known, but she felt like they gave up on her. They didn't really call or write so she had every right to think so.
Though she saw something differentthis time around in this parent. Well, most of the parents here cared they had too, but her story was different. Some people just had parents that were not meant to be parents. Maybe she was batter off maybe she wasn't better off, but she was she was and this school didn't change that.
"Well, no one really blames anyone when it is the best they can do." she said with a small shrug. She'd rather be here then in jail and she was sure it could pry be something on the list if she stayed home? Well, not jail juvi. She had never got caught just like her parents didn't but there was always a chance she might be.
"Well, alls I know is my parents put me here so they wouldn't have to deal with it...and i'm sure I'm not the only case, but every teacher here knows that well at least I think, because you all have your info on us all...I think thats one of the things that sucks about this school...the profiles make us seem a little bit more crazy then we already are right...i mean cause it is scary to come in here and teach us..no?" she asked him kind of curious. He got her on the subject of thinking of her parents, sure they could be good sometimes. They were good for nothing other times.
"Im sorry." she said biting her lip. He was talking to her like she wasn't a child, but it just made her think. "I didn't mean to like I don't know accuse you are nothing its just a feeling?" she sighed. She really did kind of get heated about her parents... "I'm sure your daughter will be much happier here then in some institution." she said. "Despite some assumptions and everything...I mean we're all normal somehow underneath it." she said and shrugged. "We're all teenagers and well, depsite being at a school full of people with problems there are the same conflicts as any other high school." she said and smiled. "So I mean if you see your daughter around you seem nice enough if she hasn't met anyone maybe you could let me know in class tomorrow and her and I can maybe hang out I know it can be tough being new...everyone does it" she said to be nice.

Scott nodded in agreement. He already knew that. Families were suppose to stick together and you do what you have to do to stay together and help each other. This was just the best option for the both of them because this way he could have a job and afford to take care of her while she got the care she needed. It was a win/win situations and sometimes there just weren't too many of those in life.
"we do get told what you're here for and your risk levels but that's just so we know who to keep an eye on," he explained to her. If someone in your classroom is in the high risk group and was potentially homicidal, it was important to know about it but Scott was sure most teachers wouldn't think twice about the rest. It was really only the high risk group.
"I can't speak for all the teachers but I for one definitely don't make it a habit to judge a person based on a few facts from their past," he told her. "It's always an incomplete and subjective story," he told her. The were getting facts about what happened but the reasons behind it weren't there and Scott was sure some of the students didn't really deserve to be here. Some really did deserve a second here but they just weren't going to get that here.
"No, you're were right. Not all parents and not all teachers for that matter are the same. We're all just people, we make mistakes too, that's life," he told her. He had made quite a few himself but they turned out alright. He might seem well adjusted now but Scott hadn't lived a perfect life. [[feel free to ask him what mistakes he's made]] He wasn't about to get offended either, especially not by that. She definitely had a point though.
Scott actually smiled when she said what she did. He hadn't smiled too much since losing Isabelle but Summer's offer was nice. Saying she would keep an eyes out for Anna was good. Scott knew it couldn't be easy trying to make friends in a new place at a new school, especially when you heard voices and spoke to people who weren't there. Most just didn't understand it.
"Thank you Summer. That sounds great," he told her, yes he knew her name, he always made such to remember as many names as possibly of the students in his classes. "She generally has problems making friends but if you're willing to be patient with her, I'm sure it'll be fine," he said, basically trying to warn her about the fact that Anna was just a little bit different to most of the students here.

Living situations and circumstances all depended on the people tat were involved and, well he was making the bes of his living situation she could see that from across the table. She was really starting to wish she had a father like Anna's sure it wouldn't be the same, but it wouls mean much more to her to know that he cared like this dude. What you couldn't get in life only made you stronger. That was a little philosphy she learned.
"Oh, well I just assumed that they did profiling..." she said with a shrug. "cause it seems like well they know a lot more then they let on sometimes...but I guess then it could be scary so I see why." she said thinking about it for a second. She didn't blae them. If someone was on the verge of being harmful she would want to know to she guessed.
Summer thought it was really interesting that he was agreeing with her and letting her in on this. "Well, I mean I know people make mistakes...and my parents aren't perfect and mistakes are inevitabe, but well I don't know..." she really didn't want too say too too much. "I mean forgive me for asking, but like we all make mistakes..whats yours i mean like what's something you kind of regret?"[/b she asked hoping she wasn'getting too personal, but it was always interesting to kind of find out new stuff about people. There was always more then meets the eye.
When he mentioned her name she kind of was stumped because she hadn't mentioned it and wel some teachers not all well he was one of the rare excpetiongs...didn't car enough to remember her name. Though i she cause trouble they did. Summer felt like she could be honest. "I mean depending on the day I'm a pretty patient person so it sounds cool, but I do have my moments...and I wouldn't want anything bad to come of it so just let me know and we can maybe arrange to hang out or something..." she said with a shrug. She was pretty open to different people, but then she could be bitch too and she was just being honest.

"The councilors would know the most," Scott explained. "The teachers get told only as much as they need to know," he told her. It wasn't as though they were going to give a teacher every bit of information on a student because what would they do with it all? They were psychologists or counselors, they hadn't been trained so they only got enough to keep them safe from the potentially dangerous students.
"Regret? Not spending as much time with my family.. But then I didn't really have a choice if we were going to earn enough to survive," he told her. He took a very zen approach to life. "I guess it's how you look at it," he told her quite honestly. "Getting my girlfriend pregnant when we were 17 and not even out of high school could be seen as a mistake but it turned out to be the best thing to happen to me," he explained. Teenage pregnancies were something that most would dread at first. "It taught me to be responsible and I learn a lot from it and I definitely don't regret it," he told her, it was personal and usually student/teacher conversations would get this personal but they were talking about some serious stuff so Scott didn't mind sharing it at all.
"Well maybe you can learn something from it," he told her. It might even teach her to be calmer and more patient most of the time just like it had with him. "I haven't always been this patient, it's only because Anna that I am who I am today," he told her, bordering on sounding pretty philosophical with that one. Scott was just a regular teenager but with Anna, things changed. He learned to be more patient with her especially after they found out why she was a little different. Scott knew it wasn't her fault and had to learn to try and understand her and that took a lot of time and patience.

"I guess that works out to make more sense..." she said with a nod as she thought of it. She kind of felt herself smile, because she noticed that she wasn't so shakey. Sometimes, it just took someone being utterly decent to her to make her relax. She was thankful for that, because he did have the authority to tell on her if she started acting rather strange. She had talked to the counslers a couple times, but other then that she really didn't need to. She was pretty intelligent all on her own.
Summer folded her long yet smal legs up onto the bench as she listened to his response. It was ironic that he was giving her actual history about how he came to be. She hoped that she could be respected one day, by a teen like she had respect for him now. He seemed like genuine family man Like the perfect parent despited his mistakes. Here she had been joking around about being pregnant the other day. It was a real serious manner. "Well Anna is really lucky Mr.Nickerson..you seem like a really...how do I want to put this a really awesome father super supportive and like you said responsible." she said and smiled at him. "I know this sounds silly, but you should really be proud."
There was always room for growth, but the whole reason that Summer didn't want to do that to Anna is becauses she was not completly sure of her person yet. It took time and well time did take patients, but Summer was sure all would be fine. "Well, I guess thats accurate" she said in a serious tone. He was a cool person so if she shaped him then she must be cool depite her issues.

Scott nodded. There was a reason for everything.. Or most things at least and this was one of them. Student didn't need to be extra paranoid about the way their teachers saw them, that would only get in the way of them studying and learning what they needed to learn.
It was entirely unnecessary and Scott was prepared to put any fears to rest. He was happy to talk to any of his students if that was what they needed from him.
"Thank you Summer," Scott said, with that slight smile again. "That means a lot," he told her. He knew he did his best but it was nice to hear something like that from someone else. He knew Anna appreciated it too, she was always happy when he was there and despite not being able to help her somethings when she saw or heard things that upset her, he knew he could at least be there for her and it would be enough.

This whole conversation had taught her a lot more then just history. It taught her that well Mr. Nickerson or Scott was a badass in the sense, that he was a really cool person and an awesome father. That he would do a lot more then the average and he wasn't afraid to talk to his students. He got an A for the day in Summers book. She was happy they had a new history teacher and someone like him was filling the shoes.
"Your Welcome." she said and she heard her phone go off and bit her lip. "Um I don't mean to be rude, but I have to go up to my room and vacuum before my roomate gets out of class...its my turn she said and she stood up gathering her stuff. " and Mr. Nickerson thanks for all your help." she said in an appreciative tone.
